– Nintendo been updating handhelds every 1-2 years
– GBA and DS were supposed to coexist but that didn’t happen
– Bozon feels more could have been done with GBA before moving on to the DS
– TMNT game that came out on consoles wasn’t good but one on GBA was a lot of fun
Dead Rising: Chop Till You Drop
– An average but fun game for Wii
– Had to cut a lot of corners to put it on Wii
– Cut out the ability to use camera
– Daemon still has fun mowing down zombies
– Average but totally average and playable game
– Short game – under 10 hours
– Will probably be a rental for most people
– When you use certain weapons zombies just wait to be killed
– Game is really easy – might have scaled back the difficulty
– The point: Daemon had fun playing it, could have been a lot worse, could have been a lot better
– Zombies pop up out of nowhere
– Using the RE4 engine but doesn’t look as good as RE4
– Craig thinks it’s strange to use the RE engine for Dead Rising – different kinds of designs
John Carmack would like to do something on Wii, Rage “not a viable option”
Posted on 16 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in DS, News, Wii | 4 Comments
“Interestingly, I actually spend far more time playing Wii with my four year-old boy than I do with any other game console. So I’m definitely sympathetic to the platform. But “Rage” is not a viable option on the Wii because of the technology. We’ve been pitched and talked about a project to do a title that would fit well on the Wii, and it’s actually related to an iPhone title that we’re doing. But that’s still kind of up in the air as to what other developer we would partner with on there. I’d like to do something there, because I love a lot of what Nintendo has done with the Wii and the DS, but it’s just out of sync with the developments that are currently going on at id…it would have to be a completely different game[new IP]. We would use one of our existing IPs where we have a little bit of leverage. It’s not something that really any of our titles, that are under development currently would be appropriate for.” – id Software’s John Carmack
Mr. Carmack has worked on Wolfenstein 3D, Doom, Quake, and much more. Personally, I’d love to see some of his work on the Wii and DS.

Jake Hunter Detective Story: Memories of the Past heading to DS
Posted on 16 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in DS, News | 0 comments
– Three new point-and-click episodes
– One allows you to play as three characters with different perspectives
– All other episodes from Detective Chronicles going to be made available as well
– Older cases have been re-translated
– Can unlock comics and other bonus content
“The original release of Jake Hunter was more of a straight translation, which left it sounding a little flat. In the localization of Memories of the Past, we’ve made an effort to imbue Jake and company with a little more personality and flavor. We’ve taken the idea of an atmospheric noir detective story and run with it as best we can.” – Memories of the Past editor Ben Bateman
