Spin the Bottle pushed back, dev hoping for mid-August release
Posted on 11 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Wii U eShop | 0 comments
Spin the Bottle won’t be out this month as originally expected. The game’s delay may not be too long, though. Developer KnapNok hopes to have it ready by mid-August.
As far as the actual delay is concerned, while the game has been finished “for months”, Nintendo’s final quality assurance “has taken way longer than anticipated.” Due to Spin the Bottle’s unconventional nature and gameplay, more checks are needed.

Frozenbyte interested in bringing future games to Wii U, Splot a possibility
Posted on 11 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Wii U eShop | 0 comments
Trine developer Frozenbyte is working on a new project called “Splot”. For now, the game is only scheduled to arrive on iOS, Android, PC, Mac, and Linux. There’s also a possibility of Splot coming to Wii U.
According to Frozenbyte marketing manager Julius Fondem, bringing Splot to Nintendo’s console would require “a lot of technical work” because the team isn’t using the same technology that powered Trine 2: Director’s Cut. But if Splot is successful, Frozenbyte may feel more inclined to bring it to Wii U, and the studio is certainly thinking about the possibility.
Fondem also confirmed that Frozenbyte “would definitely want to bring our future titles to the Wii U.”
“We would definitely want to bring our future titles to the Wii U. With Splot though the situation is a bit more complex as the technology we’re using isn’t the same as for Trine 2: Director’s Cut, so there’s a lot of technical work in getting Splot running on “high end” consoles like the Wii U. We are pushing as hard as we can to get Splot out on iOS, Android and computer platforms first. Depending on Splot’s success, we’ll see about other platforms. So, we haven’t decided on the Wii U for Splot yet, but it is something we’re considering.”
Nintendo wanted Oddworld: Stranger’s Wrath HD on Wii U
Posted on 11 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Wii U eShop | 0 comments
Not one, but two Oddworld games are heading to Wii U. Oddworld: Stranger’s Wrath will be coming to the console as well as the upcoming Oddworld: New ‘n’ Tasty.
Interestingly, it appears that Nintendo requested New ‘n’ Tasty for the eShop. According to the latest issue of ONM:
“Not only did we hear that forgotten platform classic Abe’s Oddysee would be getting a remake, New ‘N’ Tasty, on Wii U eShop, we also then found out Nintendo had asked the developer for the HD remake of shooter sequel, Stranger’s Wrath, they were working on, too. We’re already belching loudly in anticipation.”

SteamWorld Dig still a possibility for Wii U, team has other ideas for the console
Posted on 11 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Wii U eShop | 0 comments
SteamWorld Dig is only planned for the 3DS eShop currently. However, developer Image & Form is still considering a Wii U version of the game.
CEO Brjann Sigurgeirsson commented on the possibility of SteamWorld Dig for Wii U and the console overall in an interview with Nintendo Difference. Sigurgeirsson also said that the team has ideas that may be a better fit for the system rather than simply bringing SteamWorld Dig over to the Wii U.
“We are still considering SteamWorld Dig for Wii U, but I also think we have other ideas that suit the Wii U better. The Wii U is a very powerful console, but I think Nintendo has a hard time explaining to consumers who should buy it and why. It becomes a paradox: if not enough people buy the console, developers are not going to flock to it – which means that it takes longer for the console to establish itself.”
