More playable Mario characters were considered for New Super Mario Bros. U

You’ll be able to play as five characters in New Super Mario Bros. U: Mario, Luigi, blue and yellow Toads, or a Mii. Other well-known members from the Mario universe have been left out.
In Game Informer’s latest issue, Nintendo EAD’s Takashi Tezuka told the magazine that the team did actually consider other playable characters.
Tezuka was quizzed about Nintendo’s decision to go with two Toads once again. He was additionally asked if Peach or a villain like Wario was considered.
Tezuka responded:
“We did consider that when we looked at which characters we would use. We really came down on the side of using Mii characters rather than some of the characters you had mentioned. Through the technology of HD, you’re going to see more expression and emotion on the Mii character faces. Of course, we’re going to continue making Mario games, so you can maybe look forward to some of the things you were asking about in the future.”

In some ways, Ninja Gaiden III: Razor’s Edge is like a completely new game. While the Wii U version uses the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 release as its base, Team Ninja is making a number of additions and changes to the core formula.
Razor’s Edge features tougher AI, dismemberment, an upgrade system, and more. Players can accumulate currency by pulling off combos, and can then use the cash to purchase moves, sword upgrades, and magic spells. You’ll be able to view some of the more complex combos right on the Wii U GamePad for further assistance.
According to the latest Game Informer, Team Ninja will also be including Ayane as a playable character. She’ll have her own “narrative-expanding missions”, complete with a new move set.
