Gearbox: Nintendo has listened to Wii U feedback, controller specs will “be awesome”
Posted on 12 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Wii U | 0 comments
Third-party Wii U developers have made it clear that Nintendo has been fielding feedback on the console. Better than this, though, is that the Big N actually seemed to listen.
Gearbox Software art director Brian Cozzens told Nintendo Gamer that he feels “we’ll see some cool stuff that we’ve had some influence over.”
Cozzens also believes that “the final controller specs are going to be awesome.”
He said:
“We were early in seeing what was happening with the Wii U and we’ve been able to give some feedback. They’ve listened, and I think we’ll see some cool stuff that we’ve had some influence over. I think the final controller specs are going to be awesome.”

Bloober Team teasing “Medium”
Posted on 12 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Wii U | 0 comments
That odd Wii U phone call we mentioned last night may not have come from Nintendo. Rather, the source appears to be from Bloober Team, who are teasing a new game titled “Medium”.
It sounds like the actual text from the phone call could have been “Do you know about Medium? If not, you will.”
Medium is in the works for Wii U, PlayStation 3, Vita, Xbox 360, PC, Android, and iOS. It’s described as a “completely new model of gameplay”. I assume we’ll be hearing about the title at E3.
A teaser site for Medium can be found here. In addition, a couple of art pieces have been attached above.
Crytek has no plans for Wii U
Posted on 12 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Wii U | 0 comments
Update: Added in slightly more accurate translation.
Crytek, the developer behind such titles as Crysis 3 and Homefront 2, doesn’t have any plans to make games for the Wii U at the moment. Founder and CEO Cevat Yerli shared the update in an interview with German site Golem.
Although Crytek won’t be involved with software development, the studio’s CryEngine technology will be incorporated into projects from other companies.
Yerli said (rough translation):
“We don’t have anything planned for either console (Wii U or Vita). For the Wii U there will be games running on CryEngine, but they are from licensees…”

A random Nintendo phone call about Wii U
Posted on 12 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Random, Wii U | 0 comments
It’s starting to sound like Nintendo is going crazy over the Wii U’s re-unveiling. There are reports that some journalists have been receiving phone calls from someone who says, “Do you know about Wii U? If not, you will.”
Completely random!
We’re ready, Nintendo. We’re really ready.
More Wii U praise from Gearbox Software
Posted on 12 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Wii U | 0 comments
Who’s up for a few more, upbeat Wii U comments from Aliens: Colonial Marines developer Gearbox Software? The studio once again had nothing but high praise for the machine when discussing it with Nintendo Gamer in its June 2012 issue.
First up is Randy Pitchford, who said that he “loves” the console.
He told the magazine:
“I love this platform. I’m very excited about it because it gives us a path to realise some things that are more future-looking than we could if we were only on the current generation.”
When Nintendo Gamer pushed further, Pitchford said:
“It’s up to Nintendo to talk about their specs and I must follow them. I’ve committed myself to honouring their confidentiality.”
Nintendo Gamer later chatted with art director Brian Cozzens, who had similar enthusiasm for Wii U:
New Nintendo Direct tomorrow, Iwata revealing Wii U news
Posted on 12 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in General Nintendo, News, Wii U | 0 comments
Update: Nintendo of America’s Twitter account says tomorrow’s Nintendo Direct “focuses on the concept behind Wii U”. Games are coming on Tuesday, so tomorrow’s show will probably focus on the other details behind the system.
Nintendo is pulling a surprising move by holding a new “Nintendo Direct” presentation just a day before E3, and just two days before its media briefing. President Satoru Iwata will be on hand to present Wii U news.
According to Nintendo UK’s Twitter account, the event will take place at 23:00 GMT / 24:00 CET. That’s 6 PM EDT and 3 PM PDT.
You’ll be able to watch the pre-recorded presentation here.
We’ll have the latest information here for you as usual. This should be a good one…
Keighley: Mario will be on the Wii U at launch
Posted on 12 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in Rumors, Wii U | 0 comments
A Mario game will launch alongside Wii U, according to Geoff Keighley.
The GameTrailers TV host was asked about a new Mario for the console during a recent Spike All Access Weekly show.
Keighley responded with the following:
“Yeah, that’s another one that’s rumored. I’m pretty sure you’re going to see it. Nintendo did a Zelda game last year for the Wii, so I don’t think you’ll see another Zelda this year. I’m sure there’s going to be some twists to it, but yes, Mario will be on the Wii U at launch.”
The question is, was Keighley basing his comment off of any insider knowledge? Is it just a prediction? We know Mario Wii U will be at E3, and that automatically makes it a strong candidate as a launch title.
Look forward to more information about Nintendo’s Wii U Mario plans during its E3 2012 media briefing on Tuesday.
HBO Go likely for Wii U
Posted on 12 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Wii U | 0 comments
There have been a few, vague pieces of evidence suggesting that HBO Go would be coming to Wii U. However, it hasn’t been util now that more specific proof pointed to the possibility.
A Time Warner job posting states that the company has partnered with Nintendo (and others) who “will launch HBO/MAX GO in the future.” These services could potentially make their way to the 3DS, but a Wii U channel/application/download is more likely at this point. After all, the same job listing does mentioned “connected TV and game console digital partners”.
The relevant posting in full:
“The Partner Manager position is responsible for the day-to-day relationship and ongoing marketing activities with several key Mobile, Tablet, Connected TV and Game Console digital partners for HBO GO and MAX GO. Partners include Apple, Amazon, Google, Microsoft, Sony, Nintendo, Samsung, Roku, as well as any new partners that will launch HBO/MAX GO in the future.”
Perhaps Nintendo could make an announcement about this at E3. Or maybe they’ll save the news for a later date?

Jett Tailfin 3DS boxart and Wii U “boxart”
Posted on 12 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in 3DS, News, Wii U | 0 comments
Maximum Games has posted the boxart for Jett Tailfain on its website. The 3DS photo could be final, but I’m not too sure about the Wii U one. If I’m remembering correctly, we didn’t see what the 3DS boxes/boxart looked like until a couple of months before the system launched. The same situation will likely occur for Wii U, but we’ll see.
