Wii

This information comes from Nintendo UK marketing manager Rob Lowe…

“There are great new pieces of software launching this year such as Wii Play: Motion in June and Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword later on in 2011. Plus, there are plenty more surprises in store for 2012 from us – Wii has got a great future ahead of it. We just wanted to make sure that the appeal of Wii is as broad as possible, and the new Mario Kart bundle is designed to be a great value proposition to anyone who is interested in getting a Wii. With this specific campaign, we are targeting families with young kids looking to buy their first games console. This is a very large potential audience, and the new Mario Kart bundle will be the perfect proposition for them.”

Project Cafe won’t be out until April 2012 at the earliest, so Nintendo has one year year to fill with Wii software. And, personally, I think the console will arrive later in the year rather than earlier. There are only so many games Nintendo will localize (and let’s not forget about Japan who has had these titles for some time now), so Nintendo really should have at least a surprise or two in store for the Wii.

PES 2012: Real Football Simulation
KONAMI details focus for forthcoming Pro Evolution Soccer simulation

Konami Digital Entertainment GmbH has outlined its ambitious plans and focus for PES 2012, which it will release in Autumn 2011 for PlayStation®3, Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, Windows PC, Wii, PSP® (PlayStation®Portable) and PlayStation®2, and which again boasts exclusive use of the UEFA Champions LeagueTM & UEFA Europa LeagueTM licences.

“For me, the ultimate aim in the ongoing PES series is to match what people see when they go to a match or watch a big game on TV with what they experience on their console,” explains Shingo ‘Seabass’ Takatsuka, the Creative Producer of the Pro Evolution Soccer series. “As such, in consultation with football fans across the globe, we have been working non-stop to isolate and determine how to make our game marry in with how real football is played. This is key to PES 2012, and key to providing the ultimate football experience within a console title.”

Yesterday an Amazon page and boxart were found for Rayman Origins on Wii. Before that, we heard that Ubisoft was planning on announcing the Wii version of the title at E3. Apparently that’s exactly what Ubisoft had in store. The company told Dutch website N1ntendo:

“Rayman Origins will also be released as a retail-game for Wii, even though this is/was supposed to be a surprise for this year’s E3.”

I suppose we’ll receive an official announcement about the game at E3. Now the only uncertainty is whether or not the DS GameStop listing was an error…

Thanks to Dragoon for the tip!
