Toki Tori 2’s level editor “in the fridge”, new Two Tribes game teased
Posted on 11 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Wii U eShop | 0 comments
Toki Tori 2’s level editor, long thought to be coming to Wii U, isn’t necessarily something that may make its way to the platform.
A Miiverse message from the studio’s Martijn Reuver indicates that “the Wii U level editor is unfortunately in the fridge” while Two Tribes focuses on “a new game concept”. Reuver did later say that he’s hopeful that the feature will eventually make its way to Wii U.
Continuing on the topic of Two Tribe’s next game, Martijn posted the image above along with the following:
A quick sneak preview of our new game (work in progress)… What do you think?
No matter what Two Tribes’ next title is, it sounds like the studio will be seeking funding through Kickstarter:
We're seriously considering using kickstarter to help make our next game a reality. What would make you feel like pledging?

Kickstarter for new James Pond cancelled
Posted on 11 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in 3DS eShop, News, Wii U eShop | 0 comments
Gameware Europe’s Kickstarter for its new James Pond project has ended. The campaign had until October 20 to raise a total of £100,000, but it seemed like funds would fall well short of that goal.
Now the question is, what’s the future of James Pond? Gameware doesn’t seem to be giving up, as the company acknowledged in a new update “that there sure is still a lot of love for this plucky secret agent fish and we believe it’ll only take the right game and the right campaign to make James Pond 4 a reality.”
“But is this the end for Pond? We sure hope not! If there’s one thing we’ve learned from running this campaign it’s that there sure is still a lot of love for this plucky secret agent fish and we believe it’ll only take the right game and the right campaign to make James Pond 4 a reality. So stay tuned and we will be back with more news soon.”

Legend of the Lancer Kickstarter coming, will have Wii U stretch goal
Posted on 11 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Wii U eShop | 0 comments
Gorilla Press Games will soon be launching a Kickstarter for “Legend of the Lancer”. The Metroidvania-inspired game, initially planned for Windows, Mac, and Linux, will contain a Wii U stretch goal.
What’s Legend of the Lancer all about? IndieGames secured the following details from developer Paul Emanuel:
– Explore towns in the world of Umber
– Play as protagonist Sam Drexel
– Main goal is to enter a Master Jousting Tournament
– Compete in qualifiers in each town to work your way up the Jousting ladder to enter the Legendary Tournament
– Visit towns, complete quests, search for items
– The town leader will then allow Sam’s entry into the town’s qualifying tournament
– Can do this all in a non-linear fashion
– Every town has its own Legendary Boss that haunts, guards, or controls that area
– Bosses give randomly-generated spoils/drops when defeated
– Only have to complete 3 towns to enter the main tournament
– Multiple boss defeats and more paths taken will result in different outcomes
– Scroll around the map to select towns to visit
– Map changes based on the result of the ending level
– “If you defeat the Beast that guards the tower, then it will fall. If you defeat the Necromancer in the graveyard, then it will be covered in flowers and beauty.”
– HUD has a portrait of Sam as well as health and stamina bars
– Attachment icon can be seen on the bottom left of the screen
– Sam can use a magic Hilt that can be customized with different attachments
– Find the hilt attached with the basic lance inside the skull of a dragon
– Will come across more attachments including a hammer, grappling hook, and rocket lance attachment
– Cycle through attachments on the fly
– For instance, a player might slam the hammer to stun the opponent, knock him into the air with the basic lance, then shoot him with the rocket lance. The player can have up to 4 attachments attached in the Inventory menu at one time to cycle through.”
– Can summon a horse
– Horse is “useful to clear areas blocked by boulders, fight certain mid-bosses or bosses, and to help reach certain platforms. The horse will also be able to have armor and attachments that can be upgraded separately from Sam. When Sam jumps on the horse itself it will transform into a Biped horse. We drew this inspiration from Mega Man X.”
The Legend of the Lancer Kickstarter will begin on October 11.

River City Ransom: Underground reaches funding goal on Kickstarter
Posted on 11 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in 3DS eShop, News, Wii U eShop | 1 Comment
River City Ransom: Underground has reached its funding goal on Kickstarter with less than three days remaining. Conatus Creative needed to raise $180,000 CAD in order to secure funding, which was met just a short while ago.
River City Ransom: Underground hasn’t been officially confirmed for Nintendo platforms as of yet. But if the $320,000 stretch goal is met, then the game will most definitely come to the Wii U and 3DS.
You can donate to the River City Ransom: Underground Kickstarter here.
Two Tribes asks which Wii U indie games people own “for something potentially special”
Posted on 11 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Wii U eShop | 1 Comment
Two Tribes wants to know which Wii U indie titles you own. Specifically, the studio is interested in finding out how many system owners have purchased Mighty Switch Force!, Runner2, Toki Tori 2, Trine 2: Director’s Cut, Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams, and Spin the Bottle: Bumpie’s Party.
Why, you ask? Well, with the information Two Tribes receives, the company could get involved with “something potentially special”.
Which of these Wii U eShop titles do you already own? Mighty Switch Force, Runner 2, Toki Tori 2, Trine 2, Giana Sisters, Spin the bottle.

We need this info for something potentially special 😉

How to Survive dev explains why Wii U version lacks online multiplayer
Posted on 11 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Wii U eShop | 11 Comments
A couple of months ago, 505 Games provided us with confirmation that How to Survive is heading to Wii U. The revelation was accompanied by a bit of disappointing news, however. Unlike other multiplatform versions of How to Survive, the Wii U version won’t include online play.
We recently spoke with developer Eko Software about the upcoming title and director Jules Benjamin provided us with an explanation as to why this is so.
Benjamin noted that the team decided to focus on improving How to Survive’s story mode – described as “the biggest part of the game” while also creating “specific features for the Wii U instead of doing a straight port and not taking care of the second screen.”
Benjamin said:
“Thanks a lot for this question, we were waiting the chance to explain. The Wii U has a lot of unique features and we needed to make the right choices. We preferred to improve the biggest part of the game – the story mode – and develop specific features for the Wii U instead of doing a straight port and not taking care of the second screen.”
Benjamin later added that the UI “has been fully re-designed for the Wii U and is fully tactile.” This “allows actions that are not possible on other platforms.”
We’ll have our full How to Survive interview up later this weekend.
