Wii U eShop

Runner 2 developer Gaijin Games confirmed on its blog today that it has submitted the game to Nintendo. The team initially encountered “a bug that we absolutely couldn’t ship with.” While the fix wasn’t easy, Gaijin eventually “uploaded to Nintendo with confidence”.

Last we heard, Runner 2 should be out on the Wii U eShop this spring. It’s likely coming sooner rather than later given how the title has already been submitted.

If you’re in Europe and you want to see just how mainstream basketball games would play on Wii U, now’s your chance! You can snag the (free, of course) demo of NBA 2K13 on the Wii U eShop right this very second!

Reviews of the game have been pretty high, so even if you aren’t interested in the sport, maybe the demo is at least worth a look…

Not a bad lineup of games! I’m frankly amazed that we’re getting a Wii U eShop game and demo in the same week.

This week’s Nintendo Download includes the following featured content:

Nintendo eShop on Wii U
Puddle – Winner at the Independent Games Festival 2010, Puddle is a game that finds players guiding a puddle of fluid through 49 challenging and diverse levels by tilting the environment left or right. Players must also take into account friction, gravity and temperature, and use various types of liquids to navigate the unique environments that include burning passageways, carnivorous plants and electric currents.

The Cave – Demo Version – The Cave is a new adventure game from Monkey Island and Maniac Mansion creator Ron Gilbert and Double Fine Productions, the award-winning studio behind Psychonauts and Brütal Legend. Assemble your team of three from seven unlikely adventurers, each with his or her own unique personality and story. Descend into mysterious depths to explore many different locations, including a subterranean amusement park and a medieval castle, not to mention a fully armed and ready-to-launch nuclear-tipped ICBM. The Cave awaits.

90’s Arcade Racer was never a sure-thing for Wii U, but creator Pelikan13 had shown interest in the possibility. Today, Pelikan13 posted a new update on the official Kickstarter page that strongly hints at a version for Nintendo’s console.

The message reads:

“Since the project went live there have been some very exciting developments that I can’t talk about yet but the game could be heading for the TV. This is not a one person project anymore and I hope U Wiil stay tuned for more news.”

Take a look at that last sentence – specifically “U Wiil”. Get rid of the “l” and switch “U” and “Wii”. What do you have? Wii U!

The creator of Gunman Clive has plans to release his next game on the 3DS. According to Bertil Hörberg, he will “definitely” be returning to the system and the project “will focus on the 3DS from the start”. Hörberg may consider porting the game to other platforms down the line.

Don’t count on any Wii U games from Hörberg for now. While Hörberg acknowledged that Wii U development would be “fun”, the 3DS is “quite enough to handle at the moment”.
