Nintendo rep says Wii U is 19 times more powerful than PS3

Here’s something that’s sure to receive a ton of attention. While speaking with Total Revue at the Eurogamer Expo, a Nintendo representative apparently told the site that Wii U is “19 times more powerful than PS3”.
There are two things to point out here. First, this is a representative we’re talking about here – how much does he/she really know? Second – did Nintendo actually conduct a test to come up with that claim?
Something tells me that this statement will end up being blown out of proportion…

Neko also confirmed that the levels in which players use the “Whine and Skip” feature have been adjusted to make them less frustrating. Those who are looking for a challenge can try collecting the Gold Medals in the various levels.

I don’t think we’ll see much of this interface will be represented in the final Wii U product, but maybe a couple of elements could transfer over. It’s always interesting to see these kinds of things in any case.
Thanks to Jonathan Nelson for the tip.
Why Rayman Legends is a Wii U exclusive
Posted on 12 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Wii U | 0 comments
Ubisoft says that Rayman Legends technically could have been made for other platforms. The Xbox 360 with its SmartGlass technology, and the PlayStation 3 and Vita link, would both be viable options.
But according to level designer Chris McEntee, who spoke with Nintendo Power this month, “we chose to really focus on Wii U specifically because it has a special toolset, and because everyone that buys it gets what they need to play the game.”
“Well, technically we could to it with SmartGlass [for Xbox 360] and with the Vita being linked to the PlayStation 3. The possibility could be there, but we chose to really focus on Wii U specifically because it has a special toolset, and because everyone that buys it gets what they need to play the game.”
McEntee then added:
“We don’t want to have the player dependent on other technology that they have to purchase to make sure they can play the full experience. Here you buy the Wii U system, you buy the game, and you can experience all of the content without extras. And we didn’t want to give somebody half of the experience just for the sake of getting it out on another console. We want the player to get everything that we have to offer them from this game.”

Shin’en talks up Wii U’s power
Posted on 12 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Wii U | 0 comments
Manfred Linzner from Shin’en has offered a few thoughts about the power of Wii U.
While speaking with ntower, Linzer noted that “the Wii U is the strongest console with a lot of potential for the future.” He also spoke highly of the GPU.
Linzer stated:
“Well, right now, the Wii U is the strongest console with a lot of potential for the future. You should not forget, that the Wii U GPU is from a different generation than the ones from the current competitors. Because of that, there are many new ways of approaching things. Which, on the one side, are easier to implement than special hybrid solutions that are currently used on the other consoles, and on the other hand, which brings with it a much better performance. In cooperation with the generous working storage you have unbelievable possibilities. You should not forget that you need developers who can actually max out the potential of a console. And with teams like Retro Studios and EAD, Nintendo has an unbeatable advantage.”
Shin’en’s first Wii U game is Nano Assault Neo. It should be out for the console’s launch.
