HDD possible on Wii through homebrew workaround
Posted on 15 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Wii | 1 Comment
Nintendo announced back in October that a Wii storage solution was on the way, but not in the form of a hard drive. Chances are, the company will never allow Wii owners to be able to officially connect a hard drive to the Wii. So that’s where the homebrew community comes in.
Matrix has partially revealed their newest creation, the WiiZii. The device is a plug and play mod that allows an SATA HDD mechanism to be connected to the Wii. In the meantime, fast loading of ISO and homebrew files on the Wii are also possible. The kit comes with 2Mbit of memory and perhaps most significant is that the firmware can receive updates easily and will be updated in the future. If you’re looking for a Wii HDD, as you can probably tell, this might be one of the best chances you’ll get to use one on the Wii.

Details on Star Wars Battlefront III, TimeSplitters 4, Free Radical
Posted on 15 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Wii | 0 comments
– Leaked footage is real
– Leaked footage of going from ground to air space to orbit will be turned into a cut-scene
– Unclear if the project has been moved to Rebellion
– Wasn’t the development team’s fault that the game was taken away
– Might not have been LucasArts’ fault either – might be because of the economy and was an expensive project
– Game was in development for more than 18 months, was very close to completion
– LucasArts never told the dev. team when the game was going to release – Might have been because they didn’t want The Force Unleashed “contracting” with” Battlefront III
– Multiplayer mode was apparently very well developed
– Not everything from leaked video was single-player footage
– Critical reception of Haze may have also been a reason why the game was taken form Free Radical
– Timesplitters 4 has not been picked up by a publisher – consensus that Americans wouldn’t want to buy it
– More work from Timesplitters 4 shown to fans would impress – “The technology we were developing specifically for Timsplitters 4 was streets ahead of what you see in Battlefront III. Streets ahead. The art and the environments really are stunning. Head and shoulders above what you’re seeing in Battlefront.”
– There’s a possibility that Free Radical will survive
If you happened to miss out on the leaked Battlefront III footage, you can check it out here.
MadWorld passes BBFC rating with flying colors
Posted on 15 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Wii | 0 comments
Recently, some great news about MadWorld in the UK was discovered. The BBFC has rated the game and fortunately, MadWorld will be released as intended. There are no cuts, edits, censors, or anything else that could downgrade the game’s tone. MadWorld has been officially given an 18+ rating. The BBFC does make note of MadWorld’s “very strong, stylised, bloody violence.” In other related MadWorld news, the game received a 15+ rating in Australia without any required modifications. It looks like the only part of the world right now that will miss out on the title is Germany.

Adventure Island WiiWare title imminent
Posted on 15 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Wii | 0 comments
Rumors of an Adventure Island revival isn’t anything new. In fact, a new game has been rumored to be in development for a few months now. Hudson’s Takahashi Meijin said in June that Adventure Island would “probably” end up on WiiWare. Some new information has surfaced, and Hudson has apparently gone on record and said that a new game will arrive on Nintendo’s download service in April. No other details were provided (nor screenshots). However, expect more details to be uncovered in the near future.
