Disgaea series surpasses five million copies sold, franchise will continue
In a video message today, Nippon Ichi Software president Sohei Niikawa announced that the Disgaea series has surpassed a total five million copies sold. Additionally, there are plans to continue the series. The company hopes to consider feedback stemming from Disgaea 6 for the future.
Niikawa noted:
“We just released Disgaea 6, but I’m sure some of you are already wondering what’s next for the series. Of course, we’re planning to keep it going. Though I can’t really talk about when that may be or what it’s going to be like yet, we would like to take into account all of the feedback we’ve received about Disgea 6 from players in America, Europe, Japan, Asia, and everywhere else, so that we can make sure everyone will enjoy the next one even more.”

Various activities are planned relating to the Disgaea series milestone, and a new website has opened here. NIS America is planning a character poll, Twitter contest, Twitch stream, and more.
It’s safe to say that Disgaea has found a home on Switch. Disagea 5 was one of the system’s very first games. Disgaea 6 was also a Switch exclusive in North America and Europe. We liked the game quite a bit – read our review here.
