Square Enix finally provided an update on its Dragon Quest III HD-2D remake today, and made it official that the game is coming to Switch. The update comes as the series celebrates its latest anniversary.

Fans have wondering about the status of the Dragon Quest III HD-2D remake since its announcement three years ago. Square Enix unveiled the project during a presentation that announced other games for the franchise as well. However, it’s more or less been missing in action since then.

At the very end of 2022, Dragon Quest creator Yuji Horii teased that there could be news for the Dragon Quest III HD-2D remake soon. However, that didn’t end up happening. A year later, Horii mentioned that development is progressing steadily.

That brings us to today. On social media, Square Enix posted a brief teaser with confirming regarding platforms. Again, we can now officially say that the Dragon Quest III HD-2D remake will be on Switch – though that’s not overly surprising.

That’s all we’ve been left with at the moment. Square Enix still doesn’t have anything to say regarding a release date, but given today’s news, perhaps that information will be provided soon.
