Get hands on with Smash Bros. and much more at EGX London 2014
Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Ultimate NES Remix on Nintendo 3DS and Splatoon on Wii U are just three of the pre-release titles available to Nintendo fans at EGX London 2014
19th September 2014 – Gaming fans are in for a great time at this year’s EGX London 2014, as attendees can get hands-on with a variety of Nintendo demos at the official Nintendo stand, including the hotly anticipated Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS which launches on 3rd October 2014. Gamers can also have fun getting to grips with Splatoon, the colourful and chaotic ink splattering third-person shooter out in 2015 exclusively for Wii U, and many other titles including Yoshi’s Woolly World, Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker and Hyrule Warriors on Wii U, and Ultimate NES Remix and Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate on Nintendo 3DS. Fans also have the chance to win prizes on the hour, every hour, with a spin of the Nintendo ‘Swag Wheel’.
With new playable features, characters and gaming modes available to try out in a new demo of Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS, which includes Classic, All-Star and Stadium modes, the Nintendo stand is set to be lively. Fans also have a unique opportunity to play with an expanded roster of characters in this portable version – including PAC-MAN, Diddy Kong, Rosalina & Luma, Link, Zero Suit Samus and Olimar – all of whom have only previously been available in the Wii U demo to date.
With new single player and local multiplayer modes available in Super Smash Bros. on Nintendo 3DS, fans visiting the stand can also play as their very own Mii Fighter, who are available in three forms: the Mii Brawler, the Mii Swordfighter and the Mii Gunner. Anyone seeking their moment of fame will also have the chance to compete against other fans on Super Smash Bros for Wii U, with the winners of the Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS qualifying heats rewarded with the chance to play the game on the big screen, in front of a live audience who can cheer on the contenders. The winner of this battle reaps more than just satisfaction, with a Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS Limited Edition Pack up for grabs f or 34 winners. The Limited Edition Pack which is also available on 3rd October gives fans the chance to own a red Nintendo 3DS XL* system with a striking Super Smash Bros. motif emblazoned on the front, available whilst stocks last. This limited edition hardware comes with a pre-installed digital copy of Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS, so players can get straight into battle, right out of the box. An additional 34 runners-up will also get their hands on some PAC-MAN plush and Super Smash Bros. key rings.
What’s more, Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Super Smash Bros. for Wii U will be exclusive sponsors of the Cosplay competition on Saturday 27th September. With prizes including a Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS Limited Edition Pack, a copy of Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS, a certificate, key rings and more there’s no reason not to dust off your Mario hats and Peach dresses for your chance to win.
The sound of burning rubber will also permeate the show floor, with the grand finale of the Mario Kart 8 Championship 2014 tournament. Hosted in association with Nintendo Life, the tournament will be held on Saturday 27th September at 2pm BST. Guests can watch as competitors rev up their engines in a bid to be crowned champion. Prizes for participants include Mario trophies, games and Nintendo goodie bags.
The Nintendo Official UK Store will feature on the Nintendo stand at EGX this year. The store will provide attendees with many great offers normally only available online, including the availability to pre-order the limited edition Princess Zelda Statue, with only 100 available in the UK. Additionally attendees that play one Wii U game and one Nintendo 3DS game on the Nintendo stand get a 15% discount** on all Nintendo software. The Nintendo Official UK Store will also be celebrating Mario with great deals including a Mario 3DS Holder £9.99, Wii U Mario Kart Wheels £6.99 and Nintendo 3DS XL 8-Bit Cases £8.99.
The Nintendo stand will also host this year’s National StreetPass Weekend. Running from the 27th to the 28th September, anyone who owns a Nintendo 3DS, 3DS XL or 2DS should bring it along to join in the fun. Fans can exchange Mii and other content via StreetPass, as well as meet new friends and win some special prizes including eShop credit. You can also challenge each other in local multiplayer with tournaments in Mario Kart 7 or battles in Pokémon X and Pokémon Y.
