Bayonetta 3 Hellena Taylor

Original: Hellena Taylor, the original voice of Bayonetta, has weighed in on why she didn’t return to voice the character for Bayonetta 3. Three separate videos were shared on social media outlining the situation, and it’s clear that Taylor is disappointed with what has transpired.

Jennifer Hale was recently revealed as the new voice of Bayonetta. When director Yusuke Miyata commented on the situation, he explained that “overlapping circumstances made it difficult for Hellena Taylor to reprise her role.” However, this is something that Hale has denied.

Hellena was required to audition again because voices can change with time. After passing that quite easily, she received what she described as “an insulting offer” to voice Bayonetta in Bayonetta 3. Taylor then reached out to series creator Hideki Kamiya at PlatinumGames to ask what she’s worth, and she was then offered $4,000. That means the initial rate was even less than this.

The crux of the matter is that Hellena feels she’s worth more than what she was offered. Rather than purchasing the game, she’s urging fans to boycott it and instead spend that money by donating it to charity.

You can watch Hellena Taylor’s full explanation about the situation surrounding the voice of Bayonetta in Bayonetta 3 below.

Bayonetta 3 will be available for Switch on October 28, 2022.

Update: Kamiya has now put out a brief comment on Twitter. We have that below.
