June 2023 Nintendo Direct live stream, live blog

It’s almost time for the June 2023 Nintendo Direct, and we have the official live stream set up in this post. We have the different versions available for North America, Europe, and Japan.
As a reminder, today’s Nintendo Direct will mainly focus on Switch games launching in 2023, including Pikmin 4. Nothing else has been confirmed, but there’s plenty of speculation as to what might show up here.
You can find the official June 2023 Nintendo Direct live stream below along with our blog that will be updated throughout the show. As always, we’ll have lots of additional coverage on the site during and after the event.

The direct opens with footage from Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, cutting into the previously announced DLC content. Part 1 “The Teal Mask,” is shown. Kieran and Carmine are shown battling with the player trainer and explaining the festival featured in the DLC. Three Pokemon are shown — along with a mysterious masked Pokemon.
Part 2, “The Indigo Disk” is now introduced along with several available Pokemon. The Disk is a futuristic academy in the middle of the ocean. A special event will be held after the direct featuring Gimmeghoul for players.

Sonic Superstars is featured next with twelve new zones. Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, and Amy Rose will all be playable characters. Chaos Emeralds will allow players to use special abilities like cloning Sonic. Local co-op of up to 4 players will be featured.

Free to play title Palia is up next – a slice of life game allowing players to journey together hunting, cooking, and farming. Coming this Holiday season.

Persona 5 Tactica is shown – Introduces Erina, who seems to be the reason why the Phantom Thieves are on this adventure. Tactical turn-based combat is featured on a grid. Fusion is available in this game for Personas to customize your team. Launches 11/17/23 with preorders open today.

MythForce is the next feature. Based on oldschool 80’s cartoons, the game is mostly animated with action combat and dungeon crawling. Treasure and weapons can be discovered in the various levels. Online co-op is available. Coming 2023

Splatoon 3 Splatfest announced: Which flavor of icecream is best? Vanilla, Strawberry, and Mint Chip will be the choices players can back for this one.

Detective Pikachu Returns is now revealed – Tim Goodman returns along with our gruff detective. The game focuses on working together with Pokemon to solve the city’s mysteries. Mewtwo is featured.

Super Mario RPG in 3D is revealed. A complete remake from the ground up with free movement, some platforming, and turn-based battles. Classic characters like Geno and Birdo are shown, along with battle animations and other details. Launches 11/17/23 with preorders open today.

Princess Peach is shown starring in a brand new game, with the ability to change costumes. More details will be shown at a later date.

Luigi’s Mansion Darkmoon, originally a 3DS title, is in development as an enhanced version. This and the Peach title are slated for next year some time.

Batman Arkham Trilogy is shown, with ports arriving on Nintendo Switch. All DLC will be bundled in a single complete package. Coming Fall 2023.

Gloomhaven is the next feature, adapted from the card game with grid-based adventuring and deck-based combat. Arrives 9/18/23 – preorders are open now.

Just Dance 2024 is shown. 40 new tracks will be added, with new songs arriving year round. Just Dance+ subscription seems necessary.

A new action RPG is shown with seven silent heroes. Silent Hope is the title. Combat is action based, item crafting and farming seem to be featured as well, allowing players to cultivate their own equipment and food. The Kingdom’s Princess will be the guide for players. Arrives 10/3/23

Fae Farm is now shown. Multiplayer slice of life game has a cozy air — decorating your home will give various buffs. Console exclusive 9/8/23 launch

Hot Wheels Unleashed 2: Turbo Charged is next up. Split-screen co-op available or up to 12 players online. 10/19/23 release. Level editior.

Manic Mechanic revealed – co-op game with frantic multiplayer action. Arrives first on Switch.

Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope DLC shown and available later today.

Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince is next up. Monster fusion is available. Player will be able to become a monster master. Heroes from other games may be featured. 12/1/23

Pikmin 4 opens showing the doglike Oatchi. Goals seem to be based around rescuing castaways. Oatchi can help carry objects, smash objects, and help the player navigate water. Also seems to be useful in combat and can be used to find treasures in the world.
There is a new underground environment to explore with different flora and fauna — along with treasures to collect and castaways to save. There is a basecamp that will expand as you save castaways. Night time expeditions will also be available, but creatures will be tougher. New Glow Pikmin only appear at night.

Pikmin 1 and 2 will be released in HD later today. A demo of Pikmin 4 launches 6/28

Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Volume 1 – Metal Gear Solid, MGS 2: Sons of Liberty, MGS 3: Snake Eater, and older title MG and MG2 Solid Snake, along with NES MG and Snake’s Revenge will be included. Graphic novels and additional content will be included as well as a digital soundtrack. Launches 10/24/23 with preorders open today. The first three titles will also be available separately.

Monster onslaught game Vampire Survivors is coming to Switch. 10/17/23

Headbangers Rhythm Royal revealed. Players are pigeons. Various minigames will be featured in this title (over 20) with multiplayer gameplay. Arrives 10/31/23

Penny’s Big Breakaway is the next title shown. Sonic Mania creators are behind this 3D Platformer. The player has a giant Yo-Yo that can be powered up as the game progresses. Early 2024 release.

Mario Kart 8 Wave 5 DLC – Squeaky Clean Sprint level, returning characters Petey Pirahna, Wiggler, Kamek, all shown as new additions. Summer 2023.

Star Ocean: The Second Story Remake announced. HD-2D style approach with pixel characters. Claude or Raina can be the playable main character. Decisions made will impact further recruits to party. New combat features like stuns, follow-ups from non-party combatants. 11/2/23 release.

WarioWare: Move It! announced. This one focuses on using the motion controls of Joy-con. 2 player local co-op, up to 4 in party mode. Over 200 microgames. Preorders open today, launch 11/3/23

Nintendo Live 2023 event highlighted. Smash Bros and Mario Kart championships will be available. Challenge Cups for Smash Bros will be this summer.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom brought up. New Zelda, Ganondorf Amiibo to be released this holiday season.

Last announcment: Super Mario Bros: Wonder. A new 2D sidescrolling entry in the series that has an overworld level selection screen and local co-op. Launches 10/20/23 A new elephant form of Mario is revealed.
