[Let’s Talk] Have you picked up a Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pass subscription?

Nintendo Switch Online saw a big upgrade this week in the form of its new Expansion Pass tier. The main draw right now is the addition of N64 and SEGA Genesis games. Next week, those that have Animal Crossing: New Horizons will also be able to access the new Happy Home Paradise DLC while their subscription is active. All bonuses from the standard Nintendo Switch Online subscription like SNES and NES titles are also included.
Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pass isn’t exactly cheap at $50 a year for an individual membership, and some don’t feel that the price hike is worth it. Additionally, there’s been a mixed reception to how N64 games are functioning. At the same time, some people are happy with the service so far.
So how are you feeling about Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pass? Did you subscribe to the service this week? Share your thoughts with us in the comments below.
Highlights from last week’s topic: How do you feel about Smash Bros. Ultimate’s DLC?
I think the whole endeavor was pretty good.
The pricing was a bit steep compared to the contents of the base game but alright given the attention given to each character and what they were packaged with (stage, music, spirits …).
The picks were overall interesting and surprising, a lot of dream-come-true scenarios, and it was genius from a marketing point of view. Characters were generating a lot of hype and helped mask some holes in the release schedule.
Personally I didn’t care for some inclusions (Joker, Sora, Dude from Tekken), loved some others (Hero, Banjo, Steve, Min Min …) and was overall rather satisfied.
I wish other games got as much attention post launch.
Overall, good. There were a few stinkers such as Byleth and Min Min, but I really like playing as Sephiroth, Piranha Plant, Terry and Banjo. Haven’t made up my mind on Sora yet.
Before Ultimate came out, I made a Top 15 most wanted characters video, and made another 7 wanted characters video later on. Out of those 22, Sora was the only one on my list that made it in the game, and out of those 22, he was near the bottom lol. So while I didn’t really get what I wanted, I guess I got some things I didn’t know I wanted, heh.
Yeah it’s pretty awesome. Out of the 13 characters I have in elite, 6 are from the DLC characters. Regardless of how you view the picks, you can’t deny the attention to detail and care that went into getting these characters into Smash.
