[Let’s Talk] Show off your Switch groups

Posted on March 26, 2022 by (@NE_Brian) in Let's Talk, Switch

This week, Nintendo dropped a new Switch firmware update with significant functionality. Version 14.0.0 has introduced something called groups, which is a way for system owners to organize their games and other content on the home menu. It’s the closest thing we have to folders at the moment.

With groups, you can organize things in pretty much any way you’d like. Some are choosing to create them based on their favorite games, different games in a particular franchise, and more.

We’re curious to see how you’ve arranged your groups, so feel free to share screenshots below. You can also tell us about by writing a comment.

Highlights from last week’s topic: Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Booster Course Pass DLC wave 1 impressions

They’re all right. None of them are among the best Mario Kart 8 has to offer. But they’re all decent nostalgia trips that successfully serve the purpose of adding more content.

I just hope in the future, the devs add more subversive twists to whatever classic course they pick. A lot of people a have complained these courses don’t utilize anti-grav; I personally don’t mind, as there were already a lot of tracks that didn’t. I just want these tracks to have some surprises, like the original roster of remake tracks did, and not just be almost 1 to 1 with the original.

Tokyo Blur and Ninja Hideaway are my favorites with this batch of dlc. Toad’s Circuit feels way too “normal” for a Mario Kart game. I don’t necessarily want an actual race experience in MK8. I’m kind of split ways on Coconut Mall because you can tell it’s not the same but hey its here I guess. Finally, I’d say all the dlc tracks have really wide lanes. You can drift for a LONG time on the dlc tracks.

Overall 7.5/10? Ninja Hideaway is great, the other MK Tour tracks having different routes each lap/going in the reverse direction is neat. Shroom Ridge is fine, Choco Mountain is fine (I don’t have MK64 nostalgia), Coconut Mall is fineish, although disappointing that the cars at the end don’t move and some of the wall aesthetics are gone, Toad Circuit could’ve been replaced with a better track, and Sky Garden is a missed opportunity – not to mention no anti-gravity.

Price wise, it’s fine. I’m a little worried though that future tracks might miss some bits given Coconut Mall – e.g. half pipes being removed in some other Wii tracks like Koopa Cape, Maple Treeway etc.

A little disappointed that they lack the elements that 8 introduced: mainly anti-gravity theme.

Other than that, I think they are good for the asking price though.
