[Let’s Talk] The next Nintendo movie after Zelda

Posted on January 17, 2026 by (@NE_Brian) in General Nintendo, Let's Talk

Right now Nintendo has two movies that have been officially announced: The Super Mario Galaxy Movie and a live-action film for The Legend of Zelda. Mario is just a couple of months away (give or take), but Zelda will be coming next year.

Nintendo has already indicated that it will be pursuing the movie industry even further. A couple of months ago, president Shuntaro Furukawa teased that the company is “continuing to prepare for the ongoing release of movies in the future.”

So after we see Zelda in 2027, what do you think is next? You’d have to think that we’ll get a third animated Mario movie, but it’s more interesting to think about another franchise Nintendo could tackle. Let us know what your guesses are for the future in the comments.

Highlight from last week’s topic: What are you playing? – January 2026

Kyoko

Currently playing Mario + Rabbids 2.
The game is really good. Not sure on which one is better, but is a really fun game. I want to use all the characters, but my Mario/Peach/Luigi are so good that I haven’t used anyone else.

I’m at the end of the second DLC, but once I’m done I’ll take a break and play something else before the Rayman DLC.

Also playing Mega Man Legacy Collection. I hate Yellow Devil on the first game and Willy on the second one. I hate them with my entire soul. That was pure evil from the devs.

Mega Man 3 is… fun until you fight the bosses. I don’t like them, plus their abilities are kind of meh.

Next I was going to play Rayman 2, but they added Fire Emblem Path of Radiance, so I’m not sure anymore. I have never Played Rayman 2, but PoR was my first Fire Emblem and it’s been a while since I played it.

James Fox

I’m consumed by these 4
– Ball X Pit
– Plants vs. Zombies Replanted
– Fantasy Life i
– Suika Game Planet

I’m so close to the end of octopath 0. Great game, do recommend but Jesus Christ it’s so long, like just a standard run through is 100 hours. I’m happy to have experienced it but I’m happy to finally be able to move on. Tales of the abyss, hades 2 and breath of fire 4 are going to be my main focus after I finish this behemoth

edit: 105 hours, it’s when it comes to single play throughs the only games that took more time were TotK and my Skyrim platinum trophy run

Bammajamma Nondeplumeron

Played a goodly chunk of Red Dead 1 but that game is redundant and boring as heck and I just bailed, then re-downloaded Chernobylite gonna see whasssap, need a home.

BlindSideSonny

Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance. It brings back so much nostalgia to when FE was still good.
