[Let’s Talk] Thoughts on Metroid Prime: Federation Force
Metroid Prime: Federation Force might be one of Nintendo’s most controversial games in recent years. The reception has been very mixed – leaning more towards the negative side – since its reveal in 2015, and the conversations haven’t slowed down since then. But on Friday, the game finally launched and everyone has a chance to play it for themselves.
We thought Metroid Prime: Federation Force was alright, as you can read in our review. It’s definitely not one of the worst titles on 3DS, but we feel it’s not towards the top of what the system has to offer as well. The critical reception has also been mixed. Some outlets feel strongly that Federation Force is a great release while others haven’t felt nearly the same. Given how things have gone for the game, I suppose we shouldn’t be surprised by the critical reaction.
If you’ve had a chance to play Metroid Prime: Federation Force since it came out yesterday, what are your feelings on it thus far? If you don’t have it yet, do you intend to change that at any point down the line? What are your thoughts on it in general? Let us know in the comments below!

Backlog clearing – just finished Wonderful 101, Pushmo World, Captain Toad, Affordable Space Adventures, & Luigi U.
• W101
Produced excellently. Looks, sounds great & I laughed out loud lots. Fun, but the play style isn’t totally my jam. I would play a sequel though.
• Pushmo
I adore this game. Did all 250 puzzles – took me 50 hours. I can’t believe they only charge $10 for this. So much variety & quality.
• Captain Toad
Basically completed this a while ago except that one nightmarish maze level. Finally did it. Love this game. Superb quality and a new fun mechanic on almost every level.
• ASA
Played the whole game co-op with my fam. Can’t imagine it solo. What they do with the gamepad is absolutely amazing. So much fun!
• Luigi U
The best DLC ever created? imo, Yes!
Just picked up a copy of Deus Ex: Human Revolution. Enjoying it so far. Need to get used to it being far more complex than all the simpler games I just finished!
MagcargoMan
Just bought the HD version of Spelunky since it was free on Gold. Been meaning to get it for years but after playing the demo I didn’t like how they changed how bombs worked. I’ve only played it twice since I got, so I haven’t played much of it yet, but there’s a lot of changes from the original version that I don’t like and make it more frustrating that it has to be.
Oh, also got Kirby Triple Deluxe for 3DS. Haven’t bought a 3DS game in a while. Already played through Robobot (borrowed it from my cousin) and figured might as well try this one too. It’s alright, I guess. I knew it’d be more of the same since Robobot uses the same engine. I think I might be enjoying it more than Robobot since the suit made things even easier than the game already is. Up to World 5 now. Actually haven’t played this one much either; only about four times.

Without even knowing it, I finished my first ever run of Metroid NES a week before the 30th anniversary. Boy, is that game hard. I hate that game, yet it’s one of my favorite games ever now. It’s a complicated relationship… Anyways I started on Metroid II since it was free from My Nintendo (can’t argue that price) and it’s both better and worse than the first game.
Anyways, lots of blast ball too. Fun as a barrel of monkeys. Even if the missions suck, I preloaded FedForce just to keep playing after the demo servers shut down. Then I bought the Bionic Armor in Smash to continue my FedForce hype, so I played some online smash with friends to show it off and get my money’s worth.
I had so much fun in blast ball that I tracked down a copy of Prime Trilogy and have been playing those games for the first time. Dang, Prime is amazing.
Every few days, I play a square on one of the adventure maps in Hyrule Warriors Legends. I get bored to tears if I play more than one.
I still launch Miitomo daily, play around with it, etc. I also launch Tomodachi Life daily to see how my little dudes are doing.
Ah, isn’t summer great?

As of now, we’re playing 7th Dragon VFD, Splatoon, Animal Crossing HHD, and kind of the Arland Trilogy and Tales of Zestiria.
Zestiria really is as much trash as much as people said, lol. It could have been a decent game but I can’t even call it that. If this were HM/SoS, it is legit Poor quality, lol. The battle system is a mess (that camera is atrocious especially), the writing is kind of all over the place and I like what they tried to do with the world, but there’s just too much empty space. I hate games that are “big” but don’t have anything to actually do or are still incredibly linear.
Arland is not as good as I thought, as people prop up Rorona quite a bit. It’s good for their transition to PS3 but also very poor in terms of the gameplay. It’s such broken difficulty. It kind of takes away from how fun the game, but makes me look forward to Totori and Meruru more. (Also really want to play Ayesha Plus now lol.)
7th Dragon is a blast though. I was always interest in EO and never got to play until 4. . . which was good, but did not click with me. 7th Dragon is great though! I love it as a dungeon crawler and how they did the battle system and everything. I like that it’s difficult, but not aggravating. It kind of makes me want to pick up more of the Imageepoch games even though I side-eye them a bit, and it makes me sad that they kind of went under. (I hope Sega as able to rescue some of them though?)
