Mario Kart World doesn’t have a 200cc mode, but producer not ruling out future update
At least at launch, Mario Kart World will not include a 200cc mode.
200cc was introduced for the first time with Mario Kart 8. However, it was actually available immediately in that title either – Nintendo brought it to the game later on as an update.
While Mario Kart World won’t have 200cc initially, perhaps we could see it on. Rolling Stone recently asked producer Kosuke Yabuki about the possibility of implementing the feature later on. In response, Yabuki said:
“Some players are really happy with the addition of high difficulty modes likes this. However, does that mean we’re going to consider adding engine sizes that are larger than 150cc to Mario Kart World? I’m afraid I can’t say just yet.”
200cc featured the fastest races in Mario Kart history, making it a true challenge for fans willing to take it on. Whereas other classes go for straight on continuous racing, using the breaks sometimes came into play.
Mario Kart World launches for Nintendo Switch 2 with the new console this Thursday. Ahead of the release, we recently looked back on the series with a quick and complete history rundown – you can check that out here.
