June 8: A bunch of different collaborations have come to Minecraft over the years, and the latest will bring Tetris to the game. It will be available on the Minecraft Marketplace.
One of the more interesting parts of the DLC is that Tetriminos fall from the sky after powering up the Tetrimino Generator. If you mine these blocks, you can obtain new resources and items inspired by the gameplay features in Tetris. Also, new tools include the Line Clear Hammer to clear a line of iron blocks at once and the Hard Drop Claw. Lastly, new mobs called Tetrimonsters are included.

As you probably know by now, add-ons are custom blocks, items, mobs, recipes, and more that you can add to existing and new worlds to change up your gameplay. In true Tetris fashion, this add-on pack by Jigarbov will have the iconic blocky shapes known as Tetriminos falling from the sky in any existing or new world you apply it to. But you won’t need to worry about clearing any lines yet! The Tetriminos will only start appearing when you’ve powered up the Tetrimino Generator – which you certainly want to! These blocks hold all kinds of valuable, new resources and items inspired by the nostalgic gameplay features in Tetris. Just be careful when mining the Tetriminos, because sometimes they also spawn hostile mobs called Tetrimonsters…
If you’ve hit a creative block in your builds, the many new blocks that come in all colors of the Tetris rainbow should fix that! Use them to rebuild your base, start a new project, or craft modern decorations like furniture, balloons, or light sources to brighten up your build.
Other resources you can mine from the Tetriminos are new tools with your favorite Tetris features. How does clearing an entire line of iron blocks in one go with the new Line Clear Hammer sound? How about clearing four?! Then we have the Hard Drop Claw, with which you can finally reach those diamonds teasing you high up in that cave roof, or slam dunk a hostile mob in battle, if that’s your thing.
And on the topic of mobs: hostile mobs will also spawn from the Tetriminos when you mine them. These Tetrimonsters are ruthless, but if you are quick, you might be able to tame them! Once tamed, they’ll fight for you and some of them can even be ridden! If you want to add even more mounts, you can also craft them yourself from the Tetris blocks! And I suggest you do, because Tetrimino Mounts can both jump impressively high, and set sail at incredible speed. Then all that is left is riding into the blocky sunset – yee-haw!
My favorite addition of this add-on might be the Tetris Conductor. Use it on any mob and they’ll sing the Tetris theme tune! Apart from the ghast – they’ll just scream…
