Nintendo Direct: Nintendo Switch 2 live stream, live blog
The big moment is almost upon us with Nintendo Direct: Nintendo Switch 2 beginning in just one hour. Fans can tune in starting at 6 AM PT / 9 AM ET / 3 PM in the UK / 4 PM in Europe. The event should be going on for about an hour.
Nintendo has actually said very little about today’s presentation. However, what you can expect is a huge blowout of Nintendo Switch 2, including various game announcements. Nintendo should also be explaining what new this time, and we’d be surprised if we didn’t get a release date.

- Our Direct opens with a countdown timer, then shows off various shapes that converge into the Nintendo Direct logo.
- A desert track with a Yoshi sign, and Mario Kart’s next entry is officially headed our way it seems. Different customization options are show off including character accessories and even new vehicles. The title is “Mario Kart World.” In this game you’re allowed to drive wherever you want and explore. 24 drivers per race with four track tours. There will be a free roaming mode that you can explore however you’d like.
- Joy-Con 2 revealed – C Button official. New experiences abound!
- GameChat is a new feature for Nintendo Switch 2 that allows you to communicate with friends and family while playing a game. While using GameChat, the Switch 2’s built-in microphone will be used. GameChat can be used with friends who are playing different games.
- Screen sharing will also be included within this feature.
- Nintendo Switch 2 Camera revealed. Seems to be a separate peripheral entirely. This allows you to appear on screen with your friends. This is a separate purchase and will be available
- GameChat will have an open trial period for users to test it out, but will ultimately require Nintendo Switch Online.
- GameShare will allow people to temporarily share a game with up to three other systems at a time for online play. Some older titles will be updated to support this feature.
- 1080p screen with up to 120fps with an LCD screen that supports HDR.
- Joy-Con 2 attach magnetically with a strong hold. There is a release button on the back to detach them
- SL/SR buttons are a bit bigger this time for comfort, along with the thumb sticks
- Each Joy-Con 2 controller can be used as a mouse. Left and Right will work.
- Headphones will support 3D sound.
- Two USB-C ports – One on the bottom and one on the top of the system.
- Storage will be 8x of the original Switch — 256GB internal storage.
- New dock with 4k support and a fan inside to keep the console cooler.
- Nintendo Switch 2 does support both physical and digital original Switch games, subject to compatibility.
- Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour – This software seems to be an explorable digital version of the Switch 2 with minigames and tech demos.
- Mouse controls will allow the player to move and rotate objects.
- Nintendo Switch 2 game cards will be the same shape, but in red.
- microSD Express Cards are the only way to expand the storage of the Nintendo Switch 2. regular microSD will not be compatible.
- System Transfer will allow you to move games, saves, and data from their Switch to the new Switch 2
- New Pro Controller with C button, audiojack, and more.
- June 5th 2025 launch date.
- Three types of games: Nintendo Switch 2, Compatible Switch games, Nintendo Switch 2 Edition games will be a bit different.
- Super Mario Party Jamboree is getting an update for Switch 2 (Jamboree TV) with mouse controls, audio features, and Nintendo Switch 2 Camera support. Owners of the original version can purchase an upgrade pack.
- Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom will get Nintendo Switch 2 editions with enhanced resolution and frame rates with HDR. The Nintendo Switch App on smart devices will have guides with navigation for these games as well. You can create builds now and share them with friends via QR codes.
- Kirby and the Forgotten Land + Star Crossed World is the updated version of this game.
- Metroid Prime 4 Beyond will have a version for both Switch and Switch 2. Mouse controls will be available in the Switch 2 version. Quality Mode vs Performance Mode both support HDR.
- Pokemon Legends Z-A will also have a Nintendo Switch 2 edition that has better resolution and frame rate.
- If you play the Nintendo Switch version of a game, you can buy the upgrade pack from your Switch 2.
- New game – Drag x Drive – This sees players using mouse controls to move their wheel chair and play sports. Summer 2025 release.
- Elden Ring, Hades 2, Street Fighter 6, Arsenal, Split Fiction, DaemonxMachina, Hogwarts Legacy, Tony Hawks Pro Skater 3+4, Hitman: World of Assassination will be coming to Switch 2 in 2025.
- Project 007 announced.
- Bravely Default HD Remaster from Square Enix.
- Yakuza 0: Director’s Cut
- Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment announced. game explores the past well before Tears of the Kingdom, thrusting Zelda into an ancient version of Hyrule and launches this winter.
- Nintendo Switch Online will be fully usable on Nintendo Switch 2 – with a new membership benefit specifically, which gives access to the GameCube console with Nintendo Classics.
- The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, Soulcalibur 2, and F-Zero GX will be available.
- More titles will be available including Pokemon Colliseum, Luigi’s Mansion, and Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance shown. A GameCube controller with wireless function will drop on June 5th, 2025 alongside the Switch 2.
- Deltarune chapters 3+4 shown, then Borderlands 4, followed by Civilization VII (which has an upgrade that will support mouse controls.) NBA W2K and Enter the Gungeon 2 shown.
- Hollow Knight: Silksong, Story of Seasons: Grand Bazaar, Two Point Museum, Wild Hearts S, Witchbrook, Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma, Star Wars Outlaws, Final Fantasy VII Remake/Intergrade, Shadow Labrynth, REANIMAL, Fortnite, (Arcade Archives) Ridge Racer, and more shown to be coming to Switch 2
- The Duskbloods revealed, a From Software game. This will arrive on Switch 2 in 2026
- Kirby Air Riders, directed by Masahiro Sakurai and out this year.
- Last reveal: Donkey Kong, but open world. This game allows the player to fight enemies and even destroy things around them, and seems to be full of large vibrant and open levels while still including 2D platforming segments. Donkey Kong Bananza is the official title, and will arrive July 17, 2025
