How to trade with Coach Trainers in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet

Today, we’re talking all about coaches in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet – how to invite them, the benefits of doing so, and the Pokemon each coach offers to trade you on their third visit.
Coach trainers are a mechanic new to Pokemon Scarlet and Violet’s Indigo Disk DLC. Blueberry Academy is the home of the League Club Room, a special area that lets you extend invites to Gym Leaders, Elite Four members, and teachers from the base game. Once you’ve invited one of these coach trainers, you can battle them and eventually trade Pokemon with them after sending multiple invites.
How to invite Coach Trainers
To invite a coach to the League Club Room, you’ll have to use the computer in the corner. It costs 200 BP to invite a coach trainer to Blueberry Academy, and you’ll need to invite each trainer three separate times in order to get them to trade Pokemon with you. That means you’ll essentially need to spend 600 BP to unlock everything each one of these coach trainers has to offer. It’s important to note that the initial list of coach trainers is rather small – to expand the list, you’ll need to make trades with the trainers that you are able to invite. You’ll also need to have taken and passed all of the classes at Naranja or Uva Academy to unlock the last few coach trainers.
Once you’ve invited coaches in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, they will ask you to battle them. In order to unlock that coach’s corresponding Pokemon trade, you’ll need to beat them in battle at least once. To review, then, here’s how you activate the trade: invite the coach once for 200 BP and then battle them. Invite them again for another 200 BP and speak to them until they ask to battle – this time, you can refuse. Then, invite them one last time for an additional 200 BP and talk to them until they ask to trade with you.
This is all a little bit complicated, but one last note here: if you need to invite a coach trainer who is already present in the League Club, you’ll have to invite a different coach to overwrite their position. From there, you can re-invite another coach trainer if you like. It’s a lot easier to understand how this works in practice than in theory.
List of Pokemon trades
In addition to a large number of coach trainers you can invite to the academy, you can also trade with the Elite Four plus Kieran and Carmine. To do this, battle them on a daily basis until they ask to trade. Lacey offers a Snubbull, Drayton offers a Duraludon, Amarys offers a Skarmory, and Crispin offers a Magby. Kieran offers an Applin and then Carmine offers a Poltchageist. Each coach trainer offers their own Pokemon too, and we have compiled a list of these below:

- Tulip: Flittle
- Grusha: Cetoddle

- Salvatore: Alolan Meowth
- Dendra: Meditite
- Hassel: Arctibax

- Geeta: Glimmet
- Nemona: Paldean Tauros
- Arven: Skwovet
- Penny: Eevee
Additionally, every Pokemon you receive from a coach trainer has a special ribbon. For example, if you send out the Tauros that Nemona trades you, the game will refer to that Tauros as Nemona’s Tauros. These are currently the only Pokemon with this functionality. Once you’ve traded with a whole bunch of coach trainers, you can obtain a special Shiny Blitzle from the secret boss of the academy.
