Shin Hayarigami 3 gets tons of new details including story, characters, and screenshots

A lot of new details have emerged about the thriller game Shin Hayarigami 3, which releases for Switch on July 29. Nippon Ichi Software has released information about the first 2 chapters of the game and included character descriptions, screenshots, and gameplay explanations.

■ Chapter Summaries

Chapter One: The Woman in the Crevices

“The Locked-Room Murder of Beautiful Woman OL”—a case that occurred in an apartment building. The victim was murdered in their room, which was shut tight from the inside and sealed tight with packing tape. How was the victim murdered? During the investigation, a “woman in the crevices” who can penetrate any crevice surfaced as as a suspect.

The cause of death is “shock,” in which blood pressure drops as a result of blood loss and myocardial infarction, leading to cardiopulmonary arrest. Additionally, the body hair that was black the day before death has turned white, and a mass of hair has penetrated the corpse’s intestines.

Saki, investigating the locked-room murder case, began to be haunted by a “woman in the crevices”-like being that can appear in any narrow crevice. She apparently did not like something about Saki and decided to keep an eye on her.

Chapter Two: Demon Doll

One day, Saori Kaneshiro, a forensics officer of the G Prefectural Police, visits and asks for consolation on a certain “unnatural death case.” Despite being a simple case of an unnatural death, when the nervous-looking Kaneshiro was pressed for details, she took out a photograph of the crime scene—a corpse and a Western-style doll—and said in a frightened voice: “There was no actual doll at the crime scene…”

The cause of death to victim Yui Sasakawa was suffocation—specifically, she was “strangled” by hands. However, the hand marks on her neck are only as large as the hands of an infant. And the photograph of the crime scene showed a doll that should nto have been at the scene.

Chief of the First Investigation Division of the G Prefectural Police, which is in charge of investigating violent crimes such as murder and robbery. Your typical dog who does not rock the boat, lacks power, and is unquestionably obedient to his superiors. In addition to the many mysterious cases that occur, Saki and Sena—who work under the police chief’s commands—and the transfers of Niimi and Kouketsu—who were the aces of the First Investigation Division—are the sources of his constant worry.

Blond-Haired Prince

  • Age: Unknown

A mysterious foreign man who drives a red sports car, and shows up at the scene of the crime and the G Prefectural Police Station. His name and identity are completely unknown, but he is called a “Prince” due to his showy appearance. Among detectives, his various actions are tolerated as “extraterritorial rights,” and everyone avoids getting involved and looks the other way.

■ Sukima Roku

As you progress through the game, the “Sukima Roku” (Free Time Record) sub-stories of the main story of each chapter will unlock. The Sukima Roku tells the story from the perspective of characters other than the protagonist Saki—What was that person doing at that time? What was the motive behind that action? Through questions like these, you may be able to uncover the truth that you cannot see from Saki’s perspective.
