SNK says Terry Bogard was always planned as its Smash Bros. Ultimate rep

According to SNK’s Yasuyuki Oda, Terry Bogard was always planned as the company’s rep for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. In other words, it was never in the cards for a character like Nakoruru to be included.
A previous leak revealed that SNK would be a featured character for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, though Terry wasn’t confirmed at the time. That led some fans to originally believe that Nakoruru could have been added to the game.
Oda told Gamereactor in a recent interview (via Google Translate):
“Yeah, I mean, I don’t know where that rumor came from exactly, because it was originally planned from the beginning that it would be Terry [Bogard], but thinking about it now, it just goes to show that there are a lot of fans out there. The community and would really love to see her in games like that in the future.”
Nakoruru did actually end up in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate as a Mii Fighter costume. Iori from King of Fighters – another SNK franchise – has one in there as well.
