Suda51 wants to make a Killer7 Complete Edition, then a sequel
Killer7 director Suda51 has interest in revisiting the game with both a Complete Edition and a sequel.
That news comes from a Grasshopper Direct presentation, which largely focused on the upcoming launch of Shadows of the Damned: Hella Remastered. Suda51 was present alongside Shinji Mikami, who also worked on Killer7.
Here’s what the two said during the event:
Mikami: “I’ve realized that I want to stay as hands-on as possible when it comes to game creation, and I’d love to see Suda make a sequel to Killer7.”
Suda51: “Seriously? Someday we may just see a Killer7 sequel. Or a Complete Edition.”
Mikami: “What matters most is whether or not you want to make it.”
Suda51: “I’d rather make a Complete Edition first. First a Complete Edition. And then Killer11.”
Mikami: “Killer11?”
Suda51: “I don’t know. Killer7: Something, probably. Maybe Killer7: Beyond.”
Mikami: “Fans would probably love a Complete Edition. That could actually be doable.”
Suda51: “We’d have to decide which comes first – Killer7: Beyond, or the Complete Edition.”
Nobutaka Ichiki, who was also involved with Shadows of the Damned and appeared during the presentation, said Coyote doesn’t really speak in Killer7. However, the original scenario had lots of dialogue. That could be explored for a potential re-release.
It’s noteworthy to see Suda51 show any interest in a Killer7 sequel given his comments years ago. In 2019, he said: “I really don’t feel a need for there being any continuation to the Killer7 universe, as I feel that I sort of completed that world, and I sent out everything I could into it, basically.”
In any case, revisiting Killer7 in any form won’t be up to Grasshopper Manufacture. Capcom owns the IP, so the company would need to greenlight a new version or sequel.
