Last year, Messhof said Nidhogg 2 would make sense on Switch. It’s now happening, as the studio has announced that the game is bound for Nintendo’s console. It’s planned for sometime in 2018.

At the end of last year, we heard Messhof co-founder Kristy Norindr say that Switch and Nidhogg would be a “perfect” match. Creative director Mark Essen apparently feels the same way.
Gamereactor asked Essen about a potential version of the upcoming sequel, Nidhogg 2. He said in response: “Yeah, definitely, I mean it’s two players so it makes sense, simple control scheme, so…”
Nidhogg 2 launches later this year. If we hear anything official about a Switch version, we’ll be sure to let you know.

Developer says Switch is “perfect for Nidhogg”

Nidhogg is Messhof’s side-scrolling fighter featuring two players. It debuted in 2014, and now the indie studio is working on a sequel.
EDGE pointed out in its issue last month that development on Nidhogg 2 has been quicker, and it’s coming to more platforms at once. Given that as well as how the Switch controllers line up well with the game’s concept, the magazine asked about potential interest in the new console.
Messhof’s response was certainly encouraging. Co-founder Kristy Norindr said: “It looks awesome, and it’s perfect for Nidhogg.”
We’ve attached trailers for both Nidhogg games below to give you a better idea about what the gameplay offers.
