Tengami has sold 11,000 copies on Wii U

Update: Bumped to the top. More comments from Nyamyam’s Twitter account:
Seeing a bit of mixed interpretations of Tengami's current sales figures. I consider 11k on the Wii U a good number. 1/2
— Nyamyam (@nyamyamgames) July 16, 2015
Whereas 11k on PC is obviously not that great, but also not that unsurprising considering that the game is best suited to touch.
— Nyamyam (@nyamyamgames) July 16, 2015
All in all we are really happy with how Tengami sold on all platforms and hope that revealing our sales numbers is beneficial to other devs.
— Nyamyam (@nyamyamgames) July 16, 2015
During a post-mortem talk at this year’s Develop conference, Nyamyam shared sales data for its debut game Tengami.
Tengami managed to move 11,000 copies on Wii U. While that’s hardly comparable to the game’s iOS sales of 196,000 units, it’s similar to the performance on PC/Mac.
Nyamyam co-founder Jennifer Schneidereit also said:
“A lot of developers ask me about the Wii U, whether it’s a good platform for independent developers. To be honest, I don’t know if it’s a good platform for independent developers, but I don’t regret releasing on the Wii U. We decided we’re going to do a Wii U version, I worked under the assumption it would sell 10,000 copies – it sold a little bit more by now, so that’s okay. Speaking to other independent developers, there seems to be a consensus that the average indie game on the eShop has sold 10,000 copies in its lifetime – we’ve sold 11,000 now, and I think there’s more room to grow. I think our lifetime sales will be closer to 20,000 in the end.”

Nyamyam unsure about making a Wii U exclusive given the risk
Posted on 9 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Wii U eShop | 3 Comments
Tengami creator Nyamyam was asked by one fan on Twitter today if the studio would ever consider making a Wii U exclusive. Nyamyam pointed out that making games exclusive to the platform is “risky” at this point, and the company would need “to see how the platform develops.”
@GoldMetalSonic It is very risky to do a Wii U exclusive at this point. Would have to see how the platform develops.
— Nyamyam (@nyamyamgames) December 30, 2014
@GoldMetalSonic I guess it would depend on whether the development costs were completely covered up front.
— Nyamyam (@nyamyamgames) December 30, 2014
As for future Wii U support in general, it sounds like Nyamyam would be open to making additional titles in the future. The studio “would love to make games” for the Nintendo community, which “is super fun.”
@GoldMetalSonic It is not all that bad. The Nintendo community is super fun. I would love to make games for them.

Nyamyam says Tengami sales on Wii U “have been somewhat disappointing”
Posted on 9 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Wii U | 17 Comments
Update: Nyamyam also added the following on Twitter…
I think people are reading a little bit too much into Phil saying the Wii U sales were disappointing, as he doesn't give a reference point..
— Nyamyam (@nyamyamgames) December 30, 2014
..for what good sales would have looked like.
— Nyamyam (@nyamyamgames) December 30, 2014
Sales number X might be disappointing to Phil, but good news for another developer.
— Nyamyam (@nyamyamgames) December 30, 2014
Nyamyam hasn’t disclosed any specific sales figures for Tengami, but the studio says that the game’s performance on Wii U has been “somewhat disappointing”.
Co-creator Phil Tossell told Nintendo Life in a recent interview:
Tengami has done very well for us on iOS. No doubt the worldwide Editor’s Choice was a large contributing factor. I hate to think what might have happened had we not been featured. I’d say that the Wii U sales have been somewhat disappointing. Although we had much lower expectations than iOS, I think even taking that into consideration we’ve been disappointed with the sales so far.
Tengami has been out on Wii U for about two months. Hopefully the game’s sales can pick up over time!

It’s been a fairly long wait for Tengami for Wii U, but the game is almost here. Developer Nyamyam said on Twitter today that the game recently passed certification in both the US and Europe. A release date will be announced “soon” – it’ll likely be out next month.
Amazing news everyone. Tengami passed Wii U certification in both EU and US. November release is becoming 'realer' by the second.
— Nyamyam (@nyamyamgames) October 24, 2014
@NintendoTweet I am pretty positive we can announce the release date soon.
