Pokemon Masters

It was recently announced that major changes and content additions are in the pipeline for Pokemon Masters. Today, producers Yu Sasaki and Tetsuya Iguchi gave a better idea as to what’s in store. A new, lengthy roadmap has been released that explains what will be happening between now and March.

Here’s the full rundown:

The previously announced Spotlight Scout featuring Elesa & Zebstrika is now live. You have a higher chance of getting this new sync pair in this scout. The scout will be available until October 31.

A new training event is now available. The Electric-type training event will run until October 31; the boss is Siebold. Clearing this event gets you various rewards that are used to strengthen your sync pairs.

The Evolution Rally event has also gone live. It consists of three parts: the Evolution Material Mining special event, an additional log-in bonus featuring rewards such as gems and special missions. The Evolution Rally will last until November 28.

Finally, a new EX Challenge has been added. Defeat Pryce to earn rewards like Electric Pins.

The next Sync Pair coming to Pokemon Masters has been announced. Elesa & Zebstrika will be available in a Spotlight Scout soon; the exact date for the Scout hasn’t been announced yet. Additionally, an Electric type training event will also take place soon; we don’t know the dates for that one either at the moment.

The Pokemon Company and DeNA have shared the full letter from Pokemon Masters producer Yu Sasaki in English. Throughout the post, Sasaki and new producer Tetsuya Iguchi share their thoughts on the current state of the game and their plans moving forward.

Here’s the letter in its entirety:

Pokemon Masters hasn’t exactly had the best launch. Fans haven’t responded favorably to the mobile game, but producer Satoshi Sasaki and Tetsuya Iguchi today issued a letter addressing various complaints. Additionally, they apologized for the amount of problems the game has had and lack of content. DeNA believed that the current set-up and EX Challenge would be sufficient, but now know that EX they’re not for everyone.

These are the complains Sasaki and Iguchi brought up:

1,000 gems have been out today to all players of Pokemon Masters. This is a token of apology on behalf of DeNA for a recent bug regarding Sync Moves over level 2.

Also, a new Scout has begun. The Fighting & Flying type scout features higher chances of getting Sync Pairs that have the Fighting or Flying type:

  • Blue & Pidgeot
  • Kahili & Toucannon
  • Bruno & Machamp
  • Marshal & Conkeldurr
  • Winona & Pelipper
  • Brawly & Makuhita
  • Maylene & Meditite

Note that Sync Pairs of other types still have a chance of appearing. This featured type scout will be available until October 24.

The Co-op Battle Rally event has started in Pokemon Masters. Co-op battle missions have been added that reward you with items used for training. Also, for a limited time, the number of times you can replay supercourses has been increased to 6. The event will last until October 17.

Mobile market researchers SensorTower provided an update on Pokemon Masters and its performance during its first month on the market. Between August 29 and September 29, the game generated an estimated $33.3 million in player spending. Most of that money came from Japan, with Japanese players spending a total of $19.3 million. In second place is the US, with $6.3 million spent on the game. The estimated install base of Pokemon Masters is about 12 million players.

While this is certainly a good result, it doesn’t compare to Pokemon GO, which earned $302 million in its first month. Nonetheless, Pokemon Masters outperformed all other Pokemon mobile games in their first month, such as Pokemon Quest, Pokemon Duel or Magikarp Jump. You can see the full results on SensorTower here.
