Tezuka on Yoshi’s Woolly World – “wonder wool” tease, no online, more

NZGamer has published a new Yoshi’s Wooly World interview with Takashi Tezuka. You can find excerpts from the discussion below and the full thing here.

On whether Yoshi’s Wooly World is intended to be a sequel or a series that we may see other franchises take…

No, it’s not a yarn series [laughs]. The concept wasn’t that we’d just make yarn games using different characters. I wanted to make a Yoshi action game and I just loved the yarn aesthetic so I thought, well, let’s make a Yoshi game using that, including craft materials, to make a whole new Yoshi experience.

On any plans to have a yarn Yoshi in stores/release the patterns for craft makers at a cost…

I can’t tell you about any plans under development right now but personally, of course, I would love to do those things.

On anything we haven’t seen yet…

[Laughs] No we haven’t announced everything. To give you a hint, it has something to with the “wonder wool”. There are three in every course, and they’re all different colours, and we’re going to use that to do something. [Laughs]

On this being the first co-op Yoshi game and whether or not there’s online…

So, back in the day it was technically very difficult to have two Yoshi’s on screen at the same time. Now that we have the Wii U and the power of the Wii U we were finally able to realise that. Multiplayer will be local only.
