Unpacking DLC ruled out, sequel could happen in the future
Witch Beam has opened up regarding the possible future of Unpacking, particularly when it comes to DLC and a sequel.
Let’s get the bad news out of the way first. If you were hoping to see more of Unpacking soon, you’ll be disappointed to hear that if anything happens, it won’t be for a long while.
In a recent issue of EDGE, Witch Beam co-founder Tim Dawson ruled out DLC for Unpacking. He told the magazine:
“We hit the big beats and the big ideas that we wanted in this game and then finished and wrapped it up. And people have been saying ‘Please make more levels’, but I’m not sure what exactly they want.”
Director Wren Brier added: “We’ve told the story we had to tell.”
Having spoken further with Brier, EDGE reports that “she wouldn’t necessarily be opposed to working alongside another narrative designer in the future, but that it would be a sequel rather than an expansion.”
Again though, nothing is happening in the near future. Brier mentioned that a sequel “would be pretty far off because I’m very tired and I want to make something that’s not Unpacking!”
Unpacking originally made it to Switch back in November 2021.
