According to Media Create, gaming software sales in Japan during the end-of-year holiday period came in at 10.854 million units. The sales tracker calculated end-of-year sales based on the seven weeks from November 17th, 2014 to January 4th, 2015.

Software sales in Japan stacked up similarly to the same period the year prior (100.36% of 2013). Youkai Watch 2 (2.447 million units) and Pokemon Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire (2.591 million units) accounted for 45 percent of total Japanese software sales during the end-of-year holiday period.

Wii U software sales were 112.95 percent of 2013. It was the only system aside from the 3DS to experience an increase in software sales.

Overall hardware sales on the Japanese market during the end-of-year season stood at 1.74 million units. Hardware decreased to 83.42 percent of the same period from 2013. The 3DS dipped a bit to 93.96 percent of 2013, which could be because most of its popular software sold to existing 3DS owners rather than new buyers.
