I’m going to go broke. There’s like this week stretch where it’s Sonic, doom, Skyrim and la noire back to back

Tell me about it.. My children’s Christmas going to look slim. I got Mario, Skyrim, Doom, and Xenoblade all within about 5 weeks.

    • And you forgot the Resident Evil Revelations collection that’s gonna be coming on November 28th. I agree 100% though, that month is gonna be super crowded with games

    • Yeah… I’ve already preordered Xenoblade 2, but I still need to actually BUY a Switch… and once I do that I’m gonna want Zelda and Mario too… and I’ve been specifically waiting on Doom and Skyrim and Sine Mora EX so I can play them on the go… and I still need to get a job…

    • Justin McQuillen

I just so happen to be ready to buy all these games. Bring it on.

    What a poor marketing decision.

Odissey’s gonna eat down every other 3rd party game and Xenoblade will deliver the final blow, where Sonic/Skyrim/DOOM/La Noire will suffer from competition with ultra-major productions

Why charging stuff for 2017? What about 2018? uhm…

Having that much of game amount for 2017 can surely be a deal for hardware sales on Christmas, but will be a strong minus on software sales, in particulat, third party games

Sure, Odyssey is massive, but Odyssey also has a genre, a genre that not everyone might universally love, a genre that people might have lower on their preference list. I for one, will skip Odyssey and go with games like Fire Emblem: Warriors instead, and I highly doubt I’m not alone in such an assessment (albeit the minority, coz Mario)

Plus, games stay around a while, they can always sell later as well.

      • Mr Ninty

Somebody who doesnt like odyssey. *grabs pitchfork and torch*

        • Busterblade

What can I say, I’ve been around since Mario’s early days, and I’ve had my fill of platformers after playing a ton of them, sue me 😛

          • SM

To be honest i haven’t really seen much platforming in Odyssey, the focus seem to be exploration

          • Busterblade

I’m sure there will be plenty of it, it is a 3D Mario title, after all.

        • Justin McQuillen

          *grabs tiki torch*

Same here, since Nights of Azure has the brilliant idea of coming out the same day as Mario and I don’t really have money for both, I’m gonna have to get NoA2 first, since that’ll probably get rare in a hurry, while Mario will be easily obtainable for years to come.

    • Aline Piroutek

If a person wants the game, they will buy it. Today or next year.

    • Tlink7

Mario is a colourful platformer and DOOM is a gore shooter. I don’t think they’ll be competing too much lol

Also Xenoblade is rather niche, Skyrim/DOOM/Noire are much less so

      • Busterblade

I’m quite proud of Nintendo for encouraging something like DOOM on the Switch, considering how that contradicts their “Kid friendly” image.

        • Tlink7

Me3, I’m looking forward to DOOM and Wolfenstein 😀

        • hi v3.0

          Bayonetta 2 😉

      • Thomas_NE

They’re all competing for your wallet. People who can only afford one game and are interested in both are likely to pick up SMO.

        • Tlink7

Most people can buy more than one game though. And even if someone can’t, they could just wait a little and buy the title they missed at launch then. It isn’t like Odyseey and DOOM launch the same day.

      • Airsh Bornely

This is like people who compare Mario Kart and F-Zero and how F-Zero can’t exist because Mario Kart is another racing game. Nvm they are both different.

        • Tlink7

Exactly. Playing Mario Kart is nothing like playing F-Zero… apart from going around a track in both games, they share nothing

        • Justin McQuillen

I will buy every last high quality game on a Nintendo platform, no problem. I am a game collector. There are far worse things I could blow money on. With video games I can always resell them on ebay for most of what I paid, if not more.

    • theFooFighter

Mario comes out like 2 weeks prior. Mario is an evergreen title but a huge chunk of it’s sales are going to be within that first week. A 3d platformer isn’t going to affect a shooter that comes out 2 weeks later and the same applies to la noire and Skyrim. If I was going to be worried about something it would be sonic. Also Xenoblade is like 2 weeks later so same deal. If anything I could see Xenoblade being more of a compliment to Skyrim since people are buying the switch for Christmas are going to get more than 1 game and Xenoblade and Skyrim would be a good combo for anyone that’s into rpgs

    • Stuart

I think is ok because all of these games (Excluding Xenoblade) will enter the Black Friday fresh new. While Odyssey will still be a high search game on the Black Friday,it will already be a month old. Also like they said, they are a games from very different genres. One is a 3D platform, the other a violent FPS, the other an open-world mixed with point-and-click and the other one an JRPG.

But if they released Sonic at the same week as Mario, that would be suicide.

    • Dunnington

It might make for less day 1 buys, but it will allow for many more Holiday/Black Friday buys.

    • Aside from being a completely different kind of game with a different (if partially overlapping) audience, Doom is a port of a game that came out on other consoles a year ago. It was never going to be a marquee, attention-grabbing release. If anything, people who go to the store to pick up Mario might see Doom on the shelf, go “Oh I heard that was good, I could use a different kind of game for my Switch,” and throw it in the cart.

    • Justin McQuillen

Doom is gonna be such a great christmas present game for the people who already got Odyssey. Same with Xenoblade.

  • awng782

    Before Skyrim?? Wow

  • SM

So many games i want to purchase in that timeframe Sonic Forces,Doom, Rocket League, Revelations Pack, Xenoblade, WWE 2k18. Hate making touch decisions 🙁

  • TDude73

Holy (bleep)! DOOM for the Nintendo Switch on November 10?! (faints)

  • Stuart

This november is going to be lit.

    • Justin McQuillen

      england is my citty

  • Jeff Moreira

Wow, I won’t have life anymore!

    October 27 Mario
    November 7 Sonic
    November 14 LA Noire
    November 17 Skyrim
    November 28 Resident Evil
    Somewhere there there is WWE

The only games not ordered yet are the RE Revelations . Don’t how I’m going to be able to play all of them!
    I didn’t even finish Xenoverse 2!

  • FutureFox

    It’s DOOMsday!

    • Justin McQuillen

  • Reggie

I don’t even buy very many games but man, I’m feeling the burn. I was hoping this would come out sometime in December. That’s shortly after Odyssey releases.

  • dang man that’s crazy it should have been December at most. I have quite a number of games to pick up during November as it is.

  • Now Nintendo really is “DOOMed.”

  • Petri

    November is pretty packed.
Quick count there is at least 7 games I want near and during November.

  • Do all Doom marketing materials slip in references to the Doom comic now? Not that I’m complaining. At all.

  • No unlockable Metroid skins? No tacked-on Amiibo functionality? Are you SURE, Nintendo??

    • Ikr

    • TDude73

Ask Panic Button… they are the developers who are porting DOOM for the Switch, not Nintendo.

      • And do you think third-party developers choose to incorporate Amiibo gimmicks 100% free of Nintendo’s involvement?

        • Bảo Anh Hoàng

Developer didn’t ask, Nintendo can’t force them

    • It does have Amiibo functionality, you can unlock BOTW gear

      • awesomeparadise3

        That’s Skyrim not Doom.

  • Addy

Whether or not that fellow who reminds us that Doom for Switch runs at 30 frames while on other systems runs at 60 frames makes his appearance and all of the others get mad and one of them complains about him going off topic… Don’t really care.

  • R.Z.

Looks like November will officially be “money bleed month”.
Honestly, all of the third parties choosing to release their relatively big games in November isn’t very smart, especially the ones that release two of them …
