Dark Souls has very narrow scope of appeal, having it as top games is a joke.

    • Butts Mcgee

Well Ocarina Of Time and Super Mario 64 are there so maybe we shouldn’t put much stock into this list anyways.

      • Mews

Wait wut!? Mario 64 is easily one of the greatest games of all time!

        • that guy over there

Maybe back then but much better games have come to be since then.

          • Sandy Wich

Like?.. Which 3d platformer is superior to M64?

          • that guy over there

In my opinion both Mario 3d land and world, Mario galaxy 2, portal 2 if you allow a little bit of puzzle in your platformers or hollow knight if you are more of a 2d metroidish platformer person

          • that guy over there

3d platformers are kind of a hard to pin down genre since so many games are now 3d and include jumping for example while clearly different I love the game dying light to death. But should it be that high on the list probably not despite all the stuff they have added for free and done with their systems

      • Stephen Berken

Thanks for the insight Butts. Valuable stuff.

      • Dalton Gabriel Watson

Both of those games were great!

    • adamswagem

the list is an opinion. you are a joke

      • Limit Break

        Poorly informed opinion, though.

          @limit_break:disqus

No list will ever be perfect to every reader. Given the wide variety of games and game systems those games appeared on I think this Pro-Nintendo site did a pretty good job. Suggesting they were not informed is asinine.

          • Limit Break

            …What “every reader” ?
I’m the only reader that matters, don’t be silly.

You have the illusion of central position.

          • Limit Break

            The best illusion to have.

Dark Souls is one of the best Games ever created and it influence the whole Gaming industry heavy. Even Breath of the Wild took inspirations of it. It showed a new generation again that challenging Gameplay is fun. It showed how you can create a world full of story in a natural way without 100 Cut scenes and 100 NPCs that explain you every bit. It definitly did more for the industry then games like GTA5 or Last of Us.

      • that guy over there

Actually demon souls did that but dark souls was the multiplatform spiritual sequel that sold better

        • Link1309

I would even disagree on this. Sure Gameplay wise Demon Souls invented a lot already. But specially when it comes to the world and story behind it Dark Souls brought it to that level that made it so popular by now.

          • Evan Gustavson

Yet, those ideas are from Demon Souls. Dark Souls made them mainstream.
But coming up with those ideas mean that it’s the thing that inspired the industry.
Or by that logic, since those ideas were based off of Skyrim’s take on them, skyrim is what inspired BotW.
Either way, DARK souls didn’t inspire BotW. Since they got the concept from playing the Elder Scrolls, and they originated from Demon Souls. In the words of a character from a REAL RPG.

“You’re just the delivery boy”-Riku, from Kingdom Hearts.

Dark Souls did nothing for the genre except spread the word.

          • Link1309

Sorry but what you talk is none sense. Skyrim was the same as already Oblivion and Morrowind was. You could even say that even Gothic was already that formula. Demon Souls and Dark Souls have nothing to do with those Games. Not even close.

The only inspiration that they maybe got from Skyrim was that its an open world but there is nothing new about that (as i said 100 other games did the same).

Dark Souls also created a whole new sub genre of rpgs. Soulslike became a real genre and more and more games follow that exact same formula.

When i say BotW got inspired by Dark Souls then i mean a lot of little things. Its starts with the fact that Nintendo tried to not interrupt the Gameplay as much as possible. The World explains itself in a natural way. That doesnt work as good as it does in Dark Souls but it still helps to keep the Game flow. Then the difficulty, sure its far away from a Dark Souls kind of Level but they made it A LOT more challenging then any other Zelda Game and surely a lot more challenging then Skyrim.

When i read your posts then i get the feeling that you never Played and finished Dark Souls. Its not easy to get into it but i highly recommend you trying it.

Which games follow the “exact same” formula?

          • Link1309

Lords of the Fallen, The Surge, Nioh, Salt and Sanctuary, Necropolis, Hyper Light Drifter (with a bit zelda in it), Ashen, Eitr, Death’s Gambit, Below, Titan Souls, Bloodborne (same developer but still a diffrent game), Dark Mouse and more to come. Some of those Games a almost clones (like Lords of the Fallen) and some just took a lot inspiration from it. But all those games are influence by it and can be called soulslike by now.

          • DarthDiggler

            @link1309:disqus

All of them follow the EXACT SAME FORUMLA? I find that hard to believe. As a matter of fact I know Lords of the Fallen does not.

“Lords of the Fallen is a surprisingly solid title that wasnโ€™t even on my radar. While it borrows heavily from the Souls franchise, itโ€™s done well and with its own signature flair.”

            SOURCE: http://www.gameinformer.com/games/lords_of_the_fallen/b/pc/archive/2014/10/27/a-surprising-sleeper.aspx

“Borrowing from” and “EXACT SAME FORMULA” are two different things. There were difficult games in the past especially in the cartridge days of 3 lives, 3 continues and that’s it.

Lords of the Fallen – 0.78 million
            The Surge – 0.10 million
            Nioh – 0.74 million
            Bloodborne – 2.76 million

Salt and Sanctuary, Necropolis, Hyper Light Drifter, Ashen, Eitr, Death’s Gambit, Below and Titan Souls had limited or no sales data.

Karateka was an old game that employed a slower tactical combat formula. There are very few things in the game industry that are new, game developers get inspiration from everywhere. That doesn’t mean that the Soul’s game do not have their own unique take, they obviously do. Suggesting their formula is new, unique and special to them would seem to be an overstatement, I am betting if you research games from history you will find some that inspired the Souls Series.

These days any game that has any degree of difficulty are “souls like”. The fact is with the amount of media Demon Souls, Dark Souls 1-3 and Bloodbourne have gotten you would think their would be far more copy-cat games out there. Given how myoptic this industry gets it is shocking you only have about a dozen examples of “souls like” games.

I bet I can find more than a dozen examples of games that were inspired by GTA. I bet I can find lots of examples of games inspired by COD, Battlefield, etc.

This doesn’t take away from Souls, I am just trying to be objective here.

          • Link1309

The Fact that you dont even know those Games shows that your the wrong person to judge about it. And a soulslike has nothing to do with Continues or Lifes or just with being difficult.

Also i dont get why you come again with Sales. Sales doesnt say anything about how good a game it, how much a game does for the industry or how much art a Game is.
Same goes for Movies and music.

You try to talk about Games that you have no clue about.

          • that guy over there

I am also looking forward to ashen I really hope it does not disappoint

It definitly did more for the industry then games like GTA5 or Last of Us.

GTA constant evolution of the open world formula has impacted the industry in total. Their approach to game creation simply could not be ignored. Much of the same way The Last of Us took a bold approach to story telling within a game.

I will grant you the Dark Souls games are amazing and have had a great impact but to suggest that Dark Souls impact was greater than GTA 5 and The Last of Us is seems a tad grandiose. Dark Souls got developers rethinking how difficulty is approached. In many ways its is more of a call back to the cartridge days when you did not get unlimited lives. Of course those game mechanics has inspired other games but I don’t think DS has had the same impact as GTA5 or TLOU. That doesn’t mean DS hasn’t had any impact you are just comparing it to some of the biggest heavy weights in the industry when it comes visibility. Dark Souls 1 -3 sales were around 9 million. The Last of Us was over 11 million. GTA5 has sold over 65 million. To put that number in perspective it has sold as well as the ENTIRE HALO series.

        • Ian Davidson

GTA5 is available across PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360 and XBox One. TLOU is only available on the PS3 and PS4. Throwing around sales doesn’t mean anything.

            anything.

It is 100% relevant in the context of my reply.

The Souls series (with the exception of Demon’s Souls) is cross platform. That series has sold about the same amount as The Last of Us which is available for only 2 platforms (PS3, PS4).

If these games are so ground breaking how do you explain such limited sales numbers?

          • You would like join my server? we have cool people there.

        • Link1309

What makes Dark Souls so amazing is not just the difficulty its the world and Story behind it. If you open your eyes, read item descriptions and think about it all you see a world full of history and story without the need of cutscenes or npcs that explain you everything. That is what makes Dark Souls truly unique and special.

When it comes to open World i would agree that GTA did a lot to it. But in my eyes GTA 5 was just more of the same. Its a good Game but in the end was GTA 3 the Titel who made open world what it is now. But i can accept that they take GTA 5 as the best GTA in there list.

The Last of Us on the other hand is to me nothing so special. Its a good Game and Story but there were a lot other Games before and after who also had a amazing story. For me personal was Life is Strange way better in those points.

I dont think sales have anything to do with how much of an impact a Game has on the Industry. For me its about what Game inspires Developers to create more amazing Games. Thats were a Dark Souls really shines for me. It showed that a Game doesnt has to explain every bit of a Story and that Gameplay is fun when its challenging.

What im really missing in this list is The Witcher 3. The Witcher 3 destroys with his dramatic stories and his amazing open world easily a GTA 5 and TLOU.

without the need of cutscenes or npcs that explain you everything. That
is what makes Dark Souls truly unique and special.

The reason this series has few cutscenes is because the audience numbers do not support that feature. Each title sold between 1 to 2 million units, while those numbers are considered a victory for the developer and publisher those sort of sales would be soft for a typical AAA franchise that has cut-scenes.

I hate to burst your bubble but Demon’s Souls, Dark Souls 1 – 3 are not the first games on the market that told a story without cuscenes or NPCs. Elder Scrolls (Morrowind, Oblivion, Skyrim) all had story telling devices outside of the typical NPC / Cutscene formula. Games made before cutscenes employed this literary device all the time mostly out of necessity. The RPG genre in general is RIPE with examples of games that expand their lore via collected items.

In the Last of Us when Joel is injured and you are playing Ellie if you go through her backpack you will find all kinds of items that expand and explain her storyline.

The example you have given here is not unique or special to the Souls series by any stretch of the imagination.

When it comes to open World i would agree that GTA did a lot to it. But
in my eyes GTA 5 was just more of the same. Its a good Game but in the

accept that they take GTA 5 as the best GTA in there list.

If you can’t tell the difference between GTA 3, GTA 4 and GTA 5 you haven’t played the games. GTA 3 did open up the open world a great degree. GTA 4 made that world much more believable and GTA 5 made the open world enormous and lived in. There simply is not any open world game that is as big as GTA 5 that has the same level of detail and life. Sure Metal Gear Solid V The Phantom Pain is a huge open world, but not nearly as much going on in that world.

The Last of Us on the other hand is to me nothing so special. Its a good
Game and Story but there were a lot other Games before and after who
also had a amazing story. For me personal was Life is Strange way better
            in those points.

Naughty Dog is not the type of developer to make something brand new, but they are very good at taking a bunch of existing things and remixing them into something that is fresh and at the top of its game.

I have never played Life Is Strange but I highly doubt they marry the action formula to a strong narrative as well as The Last of Us.

In many ways David Cage (Quantic Dreams) story telling is far superior to Naughty Dog, but he doesn’t get as much credit because the action elements are lacking (by comparison). The Last of Us was lauded for it’s story telling because it stood alongside excellent action elements.

I dont think sales have anything to do with how much of an impact a Game
has on the Industry. For me its about what Game inspires Developers to
create more amazing Games. Thats were a Dark Souls really shines for me.
It showed that a Game doesnt has to explain every bit of a Story and
that Gameplay is fun when its challenging.

Sales is one of the only objective metrics we have about games. Everything else is very subjective.

Questions like — “What is the best game?” Have no universal answer but you can answer — “What is the best selling game?”

I am 100% certain that high sales numbers do inspire developers. Case in point: The Xbox One X configuration is more similar to the PS4 than the Xbox One. The success of the PS4 inspired MS to drop the ESRAM and DDR3 memory and adopt the APU + GDDR5 memory architecture that Sony adopted for the PS4. Halo’s regenerative shields and health inspired MANY shooters after it.

Sales numbers showcase enthusiasm. That doesn’t mean that Souls fans aren’t as enthusiastic as GTA fans, but the sales numbers shows that there are far fewer people enthusiastic about Souls vs GTA. That doesn’t take anything away from Souls, just showcases that GTA is a phenomenon.

What im really missing in this list is The Witcher 3. The Witcher 3
destroys with his dramatic stories and his amazing open world easily a
            GTA 5 and TLOU.

I bought the Witcher 3 I think I got about 4 hours into it before I was bored to tears. LOL (ducks for cover). The voice acting and performance capture in The Witcher was wooden.

I couldn’t put The Last of Us down and as I got closer to the end I was really pacing myself because I didn’t want it to be over. GTA 5 I had similar enthusiasm for.

Now before you say I don’t like RPGs, I played the crap out of Horizon Zero Dawn, which was a game that the developers of the Witcher 3 game were very impressed with.

          • Link1309

If you get bored from the Witcher 3 after 4 hours then we are clearly totally diffrent type of players and no matter what you or i say we will never agree to each other.
Still i want to say a few last words.

First to Witcher 3. This Game brought the Open World to a totally new Level for me and destroys GTA 5 when it comes to creating a world that feels real. The Game has so much love and Detail in every single corner. The Stories that it tells are amazing. When i just think about the Bloody Barron Questline… No Game ever made me feel so sad before. Many of the side and Main Quest would easily be enough for a single Game. Simply put. The Witcher 3 is the Game of Thrones of the Video Games.

Now to the rest. To Compare the way that Dark Souls tells its story with Games like Skyrim is just a bad joke. Dont get me wrong i also played and loved Morrowind/Oblivion/Skyrim and they are great Games but many of the Storys in it are extremly bad and a lot parts of the World just feel generic.
To make Cutscenes in the Ingame Engine isnt that expensive and specially with Bloodborne and Dark Souls 3 they would have easily had the money to do that but they dont want to! They just use Cutscenes to Show Bosses in a nice way but thats it.

To the Topic sales i can just compare it to Movies. Movies like Transformers have A LOT of People who watch them but that doesn’t make good movies out of it. Thats my opinion.

Gtav really was a good game but I fail to see where it innovated other than just the three main characters

Its popularity and influence on other games suggests otherwise.

The entire Souls series (Demon, Dark 1 – 3) has sold about 11 million. That is about the amount of sales The Last of Us did.

I am not saying the Souls games had no impact, I think other games certainly had a greater impact.

This isn’t a list about how much your high school friend talk about a popular game, it’s just… The greatest games.

Dark souls is definitely one of the greatest games ever made. Not only in gameplay, not only in storytelling, but in what it did for the industry when it had all but become stale and casual for kiddies.

Against popular marketing pr belief, how many units a game sells has nothing to do at all with how great a game is.

Look at Destiny 1/No Mans Sky.

      Look at them.

    • Richard_Romano

Why? Because you can’t play without dying a thousand times? My guess is you like games where you’re king and unstoppable. Real life is a failure for such as you.

No he makes a good point. If you got bored with God of War in the first hour that game genre is not your cup of tea or you had the difficulty on easy. If you are in to that genre of game (action adventure with a touch of role playing) God of War should satisfy in spades.

Not to mention they were one of the earlier games that took a cinematic approach to gaming.

          • Mews

His point is rendered irrelevant by the bigoted delivery.

Admittedly I’ve only played a bit of the PSP version and GoW3 but both times I found the style of gameplay quickly become repetitively boring. Yes it’s cinematic but it’s just the same thing over and over again. Maybe it gets better later but as mentioned I couldn’t get into it so stopped playing early.

Are you effing serious? Who was he biggoted to? Baby goats (the textbook definition of kid is a baby goat).

Just because someone doesn’t conform to your narrow minded political correctness nonsense doesn’t mean they are biggoted.

Quite frankly from my point of view you seem like someone with sand in their vagina. Granted I am sure you will brand me as a bigot but coming from a sensitive snowflake like yourself I will wear that brand with honor.

Only played the PSP version and GOW III “a bit”?

Well some one on PSN is moonlighting as Mews and they definitely completed God of War III…

According to that time line you spent a month and a day with God of War III, not only did you not stop early but you beat the game.

Furthermore there are only 2 other games that you obtained more trophies for than God of War III…

What was exciting about the gameplay?

You ran into a room, killed enemies and repeated till you got to a boss till the end of the game.

Yea.. You got some upgrades along the way… but it was really weak in comparison to other greats.

          • Anti Bigot

Other greats like…? DmC is the same thing.
By that logic of yours, every game is boring and weak.
Mario, you ran into levels, jump on enemies to kill them till you get to a boss till the end of game.
CoD, you ran into levels, kill enemies, repeat.
FIFA, choose teams, pas the ball, shoot, goal, repeat.
            and so on.

    • Rangerman15

Not here, it seems. Then again, other fantastic games like Gears of War, Left for Dead, Mass Effect, Pokemon, Persona 5, Vesperia, Battlefield 1, Nier Automata and others are also not on the list so is not just God of War.

    • DarthDiggler

      @istv_n_karalyos:disqus

      That is definitely missing.

    • Sandy Wich

What about it?.. It’s a 3rd person action slasher. It made it’s name by having ridiculous over the top violence. It has no co-op, no replay value, no multiplayer and it’s the same thing start to finish in terms of gameplay.

How is that great?… It was certainly popular… But great?

      …No.

      • Anti Bigot

Why the hell do you need co-op and multiplayer in a single player game? They tried implementing it un GoW: Ascencion to conform to people like you and it failed miserably. And yes. It IS considered a great series by many people despite of what you belief. Deal with it.

  • Padre

As always, lists like these are so bad… of course no one can make a perfect list but they tend to forgot many important titles…

    • Dylan Smith

Exactly, I expected Pokemon to be in the top 100.

    • TessellatedGuy

Well, to be fair, the people who make these lists don’t have the exact same tastes or opinions as you, so maybe don’t hate on them for not being you? They’re trying their best to appeal to everyone while also not straying away from the opinions they have. I’d like to see you make a better list. And also, come back and tell me how many people disagree with you. It’ll probably be much higher than the amount for this list.

  • Bart

I haven’t actually played it but having Doom 2016 in there but not the original feels really really wrong to me…

That’s among many other things I could remark upon, but whatever, it’s all a bit pointless.

    • Renan Greca

Doom 2016 is waaaaay better than the original ๐Ÿ™‚

      • Bart

For you maybe, for me, very unlikely. ๐Ÿ™‚

Doom is basically my favourite fps ever. No amount of polygons, or being able to look up and down, anything, will ever change that. There’s just something about its gameplay that keeps me coming back to it.

Also, I meant in light of the impact and influence the original had on the industry maybe it deserves a spot in the list more than 2016. But whatever, it’s all subjective, not that important I guess.

        • Renan Greca

I agree it’s an incredibly important and influential game. But Doom 2016 isn’t just about the graphics, it’s a stellar shooter that combines what was great about the classic game with awesome mechanics. Do play it.

          • Bart

If I ever get a better PC or a PS4 it’ll be one of the first things. ๐Ÿ™‚

          • DarthDiggler

        • DarthDiggler

          @disqus_tXhnH3VMhR:disqus

The original Doom? You are smoking banana peels. I get its nostalgia appeal but there are many games that exceeded it in spades.

          WOLF3D 4EVA! HAHAHAHA

          • Bart

Does that actually… work? Banana peels? Maybe I should try that sometime…

Not gonna sit here and argue over taste with you, I freaking love Doom’s gameplay, what can I say. I still love Duke 3D and Quake 1 as well… The only slightly more modern fps I ever really got into was the first Halo…

So yeah, whatever, to each his own and all that.

            DOOM 4 LIFE

  • Rodrigo Coelho Costa Junior

    Dat top ten

    10. Resident Evil 4
    9. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
    8. Super Mario Galaxy 2
    7. Tetris
    6. Half-Life 2
    5. Bloodborne
    4. The Last of Us
    3. Grand Theft Auto V
    2. Dark Souls
    1. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

  • SR

Lol… this is laughably bad. Cannot take this seriously at all.

  • nemo37

I would personally replace Super Monkey Ball with Sonic 3 & K or Sonic CD and moved it to a better ranking and Portal with Portal 2 and SM3DW with one of the Pikmin games. I am also a bit puzzled as to why WoW, YS, and Phantasy Star are not on the list, but it is all subjective so I do not really fault them.

  • San Jasmeo

    And Metroid Prime????

    • Somewhere in the end

  • Adrian Brown

GTA better than TLOU? Haha sure.

  • AidoruKatsudou

It’s a really terrible list biased towards modern games, but whatever, it’s just a personal list after all.

  • Icaran Flame

Yall need to tell people that this list isn’t objective. You don’t even have OOT, Undertale, Half-Life 2, or Tetris in the top 5. Smh

    • Mews

Surely it should be obvious that such a list isn’t objective by virtue of it being someones opinion?

  • Allen

    persona 5?

    • Jack

Allen, do you still have that spare Mithril Edition?

  • Reggie

Breath of the Wild is a good game, but I wouldn’t place it as the greatest game of all time. I wouldn’t even consider it the top Zelda game. This list is pretty hype biased.

  • Max.Tremors

I know it’s subjective and all, but what kind of crazy a**h*le would rank Far Cry 4 above Witcher 3?

  • Claudio

the list doesn’t even work as a joke. please try again.

  • How is Chrono Trigger not on this list?

  • 1000

This is the worst list of Top 100 I’ve ever seen.

  • Clate

I am a huge old school Zelda fan but I REALLY feel that Zelda and Nintendo in general get WAY more credit than they deserve.

(Ocarina of Time is the greatest game ever in my book. No other Zelda is even close. Honestly putting Dark Souls over Demon’s Souls kinda takes all credibility from this list as well….

  • peakfreak

This list is invalid for 3 reasons:

    1) Resident Evil 4 is not a top 10 game of all time. Not even top 50. Ok, top 50 is debatable, but top 10 is not. The author must’ve been really high when they played this.

    2) WTF is Fire Emblem Fates? Seriously. I had to google it. Putting a Nintendo DS game anywhere near this list is a travesty.

    3) Super Smash Bros and/or Mario Kart 64 need to be on here. Any game capable of ruining familial bonds deserves to be top 100.

  • schmaltzo

This is a respectable list. Nevertheless I find all lists to be stupid.

  • Tooki

What a joke of a list.

  • ronin4life

…why even bother with a list like this yearly?

Becomes kind of worthless if placement for “greatest 100 games ever” status is up for review on an annual basis…

  • long_dong_donkey_kong

I’m an unapologetic Nintendo fan boy, and there’s no way I’d say Mario 3D World or Splatoon are in the top 50. They’re both fun games, but c’mon, but better than Link to the Past?

  • hoteltuesday

Majora’s Mask is 37 spots too low.

  • Padre

Where is Deus Ex and Goldeneye?
    Also Doom2016… lol.

  • Limit Break

    Metal Gear Solid V ?
And NO OTHER MGS game ?!
What drugs are you into, EDGE ?

Also, no Devil May Cry games ? No Silent Hill games ? Are you out of your mind, shitheads ?

  • Rikki

The list is very sympathetic to modern games. Graphics don’t equal gameplay. Something that is overlooked by most nowadays including developers and reviewers.

  • Jack

    Zelda <3

  • Spelunky over METROID PRIME???? WTF?

  • Tom

this is just a ‘game journalist’ with nothing to write about listing 100 games they’ve played.

  • DarthDiggler

Granted this is a Nintendo site, but in my opinion Uncharted 2 seems like its missing.

  • Ian Davidson

I don’t understand how they can ommit FF7.

It was, and probably still is, the best game I’ve ever played. It’s probably still the game i’ve spent more time on than any other.

  • Dumdum

“Her Story” is in there? Okay.

  • Greg Pienkowski

    No Rocket League. No Credibililty.

  • Chrono Break

    > One single Final Fantasy game made it onto the list and it’s XII and it’s at 97.
    > No other MGS title except MGSV, and it cracked the Top 20.
    > No Chrono Trigger.
    > Not one single Devil May Cry, Silent Hill, Dragon Quest, and Pokemon.

    I-I I’m lost.

  • J. Locanas

    GTAV @ 3? Really? Lame…

    • DarthDiggler

      @jabl76mba:disqus

As someone who just reinstalled GTA 5, it definitely deserves a top spot on this list. The game is well done in SO many ways. Still one of the best looking games out there even on PS3/X360.

      • J. Locanas

No doubt it’s beautiful, it’s just gameplay is lacking imo compared to the other top 25 games like Dark Souls, BotW (which doesn’t deserve #1, but still had more variety imo), Portal, etc…

  • Turbojacket

Why is The Last Guardian even on this list? That game was hyped for a decade and the camera is so terrible it’s unplayable at times.

  • Richard_Romano

FromSoft has 2 games in the top 5. Much-deserved. Those two are the best games I’ve ever played.

  • raged187

No GTA San Andreas? No GTA Vice City? No Fallout 3 or New Vegas? No Final Fantasy VII? FAIL LIST.

  • Norbโ„ข

    Destiny above Halo 3…

Sorry. More importantly. Destiny as the 36th BEST GAME OF ALL TIME?

  • El Dozan

    WTF IS THIS

  • Carlos Alberto Lรณpez

Your list sucks hipsters didnt know about games

  • MetroidMckay

    No Donkey Kong??? What?

  • Jessica George

*sees Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix isn’t on this list*

    *closes window*

  • Quentin Rnd

One of the best lists I’ve seen. Got a few nitpicks but they’re somewhat
irrelevant. Dark Souls deserves its spot because, while it remains a
‘niche’ game that lots of people can’t put the necessary efforts in, it
changed the medium in a deep, extremely meaningful way. Contrary to
popular belief, DS1 wasn’t the most ‘hardcore’ game, or even hardest
game on the market in 011 (100%ing SMB was a lot harder, for example),
but the fact that it looked at every trend and chose to run the other
way (no narration, no obvious hint, no hand-holding, every enemy can
f**k you up, etc) was nothing short of a stroke of genius. Only BotW has
done more for the industry since and oh, look at that, it’s first on
    the list.
