You seem to be missing the console sale list. You have the previous week’s.

    • Stuart

That list is from this week, he actually forgot to post the last week’s numbers and inverted the orders.

      • KnightWonder

        Sorry, what?

        • Stuart

Those numbers on the article is this week’s numbers. He accidentally posted bellow the “For comparison’s sake, here are the hardware numbers from last week” and forgot to put the actual last week’s numbers.

          • KnightWonder

Oh, yeah, I noticed that just now. Kind of weird to see.

  • theFooFighter

    That Vita and xb1 boost

    • Gregory Weagle

Well; it is close to Christmas now. If it declined during this; it might be time to pull the plug on the hardware.

      Sometimes, Vita does mean life.

    • Radish

The Xbox One had the biggest percentage gain in Japan last week at over 500%! Whereas for Switch a 500% gain would have required 825,000 sales this past week. And PS4 Pro lost momentum.

      • Mark

Pretty impressive boost, all in all.

  • Exposer

Whats the status of XC2 in Japan? Because i want to know why is selling kinda low.

    • KnightWonder

      Xenoblade is a niche game.

      • Dark Rain

Yeah and for taht its sells really good.

        • KnightWonder

Neither game has broken 1 million copies in global sales.

          • Dark Rain

I mean XC2 sells now really good for a XC game.

          • russlxx2

Wrong, you dumb f****** ignorant piece of s***. Fact of the matter is that despite neither breaking 1mil in sales, both Xenoblade and Xenoblade X came within spitting distance of doing such, and by factoring in the sales of the N3DS port of the former it very easily surpasses 1 million in sales. “Niche” games don’t come anywhere near selling any slight semblance of these figures and the suggestion that Xenoblade as a whole is niche is nothing but a dumb f****** load of utter idiotic and blatantly untrue bulls***.

The original is exceptionally well-known and critically acclaimed, hailed as one of the greatest RPGs of any kind of all time by fans and general gaming media and deservedly so, and its appeal was plenty broad on account of its more wisely-executed charm backing up its greater devotion to maturity and sophistication in its story, characters, writing, and the like. Even its sales only tell part of the story as it was limited by the time and hardware it released on by no small measure, long after the Wii’s time in the limelight and it was a never a system where non-family oriented non-Nintendo games thrived in the slightest anyway, and additionally in Japan 1 and X didn’t play into the stereotypical animu tropes which limited its appeal due to their poor taste. 2 has failed to impress much sales-wise because it’s own execution of said tropes, even in the highly questionable art style, is clearly phoned in and fell flat on its face across the board.

But on a global scale the series isn’t niche in the least, and your suggestion to the contrary is nothing but a load of utter f****** idiotic and blatantly untrue bulls***, and that’s a fact you worthless piece of s***. Pipe down and educate before you spout such dumb f*****g idiocy again. permaleaving

          • Ragnell

Lmao that was entertaining to read thank you.

          • MAGA-Man-Goo

You OK Bro? I wouldn’t want to see you burst a vessel and turn into a vegetable over some dummass game sales.

          • Gregory Weagle

I wish when he claims he’s permaleaving, that he would leave Nintendo Everything permanently instead of coming back every time just to whiz on someone else’s opinion.

          • Tlink7

Xenoblade is niche af, it’d sell next to nothing if it wasn’t for American otakus 😛

          • Eagle367

Arms is outselling it so yeah of course it’s niche

          • hi v3.0

            Smart gamers*

          • Tlink7

People who watch Rick and Morty**

          • hi v3.0

    • Stuart

Xenoblade X sold around 150k lifetime. For the franchise at least,it is pretty good. (EDIT: I mean,in Japan alone).

      • Dark Rain

You mean in Japan? Because worldwide it did hit the 1 million.

        • Stuart

          Yeah,yeah. I edited my post.

      • Ezereal

And Xeno 2 will beat this pretty easily 🙂

    • Robert Hastings

Xenoblade has never sold the greatest in Japan. Doesn’t come as a surprise for the drop in sales. It looks like it’s holding it’s own for digital since it’s #2 in the eshop still.

    • Gregory Weagle

I suspect that it will end with over 160,000 units when it runs it’s course. Xenoblade 1 did 160,000 units, X did 150,000 units and the new 3DS version did 130,000 units; which is where XC2 is right now, more or less.

It does have a chance to surpass one million units worldwide though, since the game was released during the holiday season, which helped the Japanese numbers quite a bit considering that the first couple of entires were released in April and June.

    • Ezereal

Xeno 2 is selling more than Xeno 1 and Xeno X everywhere in the world.
But it’s still a niche game, no Xenoblade sold beyond 950,000 units worldwide, Xeno 2 will probably be the first one to do so.

As a result it’s certainly satisfying for Nintendo, plus the game will sell for them any years to come on eShop thanks to its status as one of Switch’s best games 🙂

    • GoldenTriforce

For Japan this is good and consistent. I think it still has a few more weeks of 10-20k which is good. I can see 200-250k lifetime, which is a big jump from the last 2 games

  • Stuart

There was some people saying that Nintendo would ship 500k consoles this week for Japan. Next week we could see even greater numbers.

    • Gregory Weagle

All they need is 500,000 units in the next two weeks to assure Switch surpasses Wii U’s LTD sales, so they may not even need much. The future is now surpassing Vita and PS4; which is more than doable in PS Vita’s case and maybe PS4; although PS4 still has enough gas in the tank to make this a longer fight than with Wii U and Vita.

One thing is for certain; mid to late 2018, there will likely be only two choices for platforms outside of mobile and PC for developers: PS4 and Switch. Only one of them has a portable feature built in.

      • Jaxad0127

For Japan only, passing the PS4 shouldn’t be an issue; it is very close if not past half the LTD. Your last paragraph likely only applies to Japan as well. Xbox does well enough in the west and XB1X could still outsell PS4 Pro.

        • Gregory Weagle

  • Toni

glad to still see that Xenoblade 2 in the top 20

  • Gregory Weagle

Mario Odyssey is now the top selling 3D Mario game in Japan. Now the question remains; will it surpass many of the 2D Mario games?

    • MajoraMan28

It’s the fastest selling, not the best selling 3D Mario game

      • Gregory Weagle

Yeah; I got ahead of myself.

Odyssey outsold Super Mario Galaxy 2, Super Mario 3D World and Super Mario Sunshine though in Japan.

  • Ser2k2
  • Jacob Groves

Switch is crazy in Japan. I love my Switch lots. 😀

  • lpfm

    Week 42;

    Switch: 221,210
    3DS: 350,321 (3,233,414)

Swtch is sweating chasing 3DS still, isn’t it?

    • Amethyst Gaze

Considering the 3DS had to have a massive price-cut the very first year to achieve that, I’m not so sure.

      • lpfm

To me 3DS was overpriced at launch, but… They just put the price where it should be.
Most impressive, switch, not a dedicated handheld, outselling 3DS in someweeks…. It’s a fair chase!

    • awng782

3DS sales in December 2011 were bonkers. It sold 1.5+ million units that month, which is the most a single game system has ever sold in a single month in Japan.

  • Man

    Ooh! Those massive Switch sales!

  • wytxus
    • Stuart

      Yeah,eat it Switch,eat it.

      Delicious isn’it?

    • Dissapointed the numbers of PS4 Pro….

  • Ryosuke Yamada

Mmmmm what I would do for Digimon Story on the Switch… Bamco pls.

  • Tga215

All I can say is wow at this point

  • TDude73

What a milestone moment for Super Mario Odyssey. Over 1 million copies sold in Japan! Congrats to Nintendo EPD!

  • nekoknight

Japanese hardware sales as of 12/17/2017 according to Media Create:

    PS4 (released 02.22.2014): 5,674,759*

    SWITCH (released 03.03.2017): 2,884,892

    *includes Pro sales

    • Gregory Weagle

I have 2.908 million units from Media Create and 2.988 million units from Famitsu. Why am I off by 16,800 units?

      • nekoknight

I really don’t know for sure, but it could be because my sales numbers are counted up to the 17th of December. Since it’s now the 20th, it is very well possible that the SWITCH has sold an extra 16,800 units since then.

  • awng782

    Great Switch sales.

The first Yokai Watch Busters sold well over 700,000 copies at launch. The second one has sold less than 30% what the first one did despite being a holiday launch.

    • Eagle367

      3ds is dying

      • GoldenTriforce

3DS is past its peak in Japan, it has been for about a year or more now.

      • awng782

No doubt about that. Level 5 needs to make the jump to Switch ASAP for the Yokai Watch franchise.

        • Eagle367

Yeah otherwise Yokai Watch will sink like the Titanic

  • The note needs an update, it shows this weeks sales under last week.

    • Gregory Weagle

#20 is also incorrect. The correct game is titled Sumikko Gurashi: Koko, Dokonan Desu? for Nintendo 3DS; not Sumikko Gurashi: Sumikko Park he Youkouso for Nintendo Switch.

  • Froot

132 Xbox One X… xDDD it’s even worth for them releasing the console there?

    • Radish

      Microsoft has no shame. xD

  • Cesar Miyamoto

Nintendo needs to fresh out Kirby, is become the same game each gen from long ago, maybe a hack and slash type of game or something totally different just for fun.

    • GoldenTriforce

They did make something different, thats what Battle Royale did. And it didn’t do so great in Japan. The mainline 2D Platformers on 3DS have all done very well in Japan. Japan’s not huge on spin-offs.

  • Pepperkeet

  • Wow. That’s a big boost for the Switch even as the PS4 pro is pulling the same sales as last week. ^_^

  • GoldenTriforce

2,000+ Xbox Ones? Not bad, maybe they actually sold a game in Japan this week. Good on you Microsoft, keep going at it.

    • wew

PUBG came out on Xbox One last week.

      • GoldenTriforce

An early access shooter isn’t going to do THAT great on a console in Japan though. It’s more likely than not a holiday boost.

  • GoldenTriforce

Xenoblade 2 seems to be selling consistently, which is good. It will get a small boost next week as well. I am still confident in it doing 200-250k lifetime, which is much better than the last 2 games.

    • GoldenTriforce

For comparison, on its third week the original dropped from 20k to 12k, and in its third week X only sold 4k. 19k to 12k is a pretty sold drop off rate, and especially with the major holiday week still coming up, it will probably have less drop off than the others did on its 4th week.
