GoldenEye 007 producer: Eurocom pushing the Wii “incredibly hard”
Posted on 14 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Wii | 5 Comments
“I think Eurocom also have something to prove. That [Wii] is a perhaps sometimes underrated and underused piece of hardware. They’re pushing it incredibly hard, I mean the graphics are phenomenal and their production values, both cinematic and facial animation production values, the destructibility is incredible for the platform.” – GoldenEye 007 executive producer Julian Widdows
I’ll be honest…I thought the initial batch of screenshots looked pretty underwhelming. The latest images did show a bit of improvement though, and the game still has a few months to go before it’s released.

How the GoldenEye remake came to be
Posted on 14 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Wii | 2 Comments
This information comes from Eurocom Studio Development Manager Tim Coupe…
“Eurocom have been big fans of Bond for many years, and we were privileged to develop ‘The World is Not Enough’ on the N64, followed by our work on ‘Nightfire’ (Gamecube, PS2, Xbox) and then later by ‘Quantum of Solace’ (PS2). After our work on ‘Quantum’, we began to talk with Activision, and the licensors Danjaq, about a new Bond game development. It was during those discussions that the idea of reinterpreting the film GoldenEye on the Wii came about. We all immediately recognised that it was a huge opportunity, and it took several months of planning and discussions to work out the right plan in order meet those huge expectations.”
Even though GoldenEye is a remake rather than an updated port, I’m sure it took a long time for everything to come together. There were probably a few roadblocks that could have prevented production of the Wii title. I’m personally glad that it’s happening…But there’s definitely a lot of pressure on the development team to meet fans’ expectations.
