Level-5 releases special wallpaper, is forced to include the airplane from AeroPorter due to poll results

Though I’m sure they don’t mind in the slightest, game developer/publisher Level-5 was recently forced to publish a special wallpaper with characters from many of their most popular franchises… as well as the airplane and the “porter” from AeroPorter! The 3DS download title apparently held a spot in the popularity poll that they put up to determine which characters would be drawn into the wallpaper, and so many people put down their vote for the non-living, metallic flight-body that Level-5 had to include it! The airplane managed to snag 46,263 votes, ahead of the second-place Inazuma character who pulled in 38,339, and the porter himself (a character with no face or personality, mind you) got ninth, with 17,889.
Take a look at the wallpaper above, or click here to download a full-sized version.

More tidbits from Hobby Consolas’ interview with the Fire Emblem: Awakening team have appeared online.
First, a few notes about the 3DS game:
– Nintendo said that 80% of players should can finish Fire Emblem: Awakening, but as there would be a 20% that wouldn’t was the reason for including Casual mode.
– According to them, you can finish the game without using the “Pair up” system.
– According to Tohru Narihiro, the game is exactly the same in Japanese and Western versions
– They consider the Fire Emblem public a “Purist” one, but should also attract the general public.

[Famicompendium] Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan – My cheers are burning red!

I hope you all like anime cheerleaders and J-pop, because this week I’m taking a look back at a pair (or is it a trio?) of quirky rhythm games produced by iNiS that are up there as personally my favourite games on the Nintendo DS. As a development team that takes a clear musical direction with each of their games (iNiS itself stands for Infinite Noise of the Inner Soul), they understand how to create a perfect blend of personality and compelling gameplay unlike anything else out there. Case in point: their 2005, Nintendo-published title – Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan (“Yeah! Fight! Cheer Squad”, if you were wondering why nobody ever translates its name) In an interview with 1UP, the game’s director Keiichi Yano stated that iNiS’s philosophy was to create games with “passion” – both in terms of the act of making the games and the actual content. Rather than making games as pure entertainment, he wants to create experiences that “make people feel good”. None of their games exemplify this approach quite as well as Ouendan because, really, who can express and incite passion quite like a good cheer squad?
