More Wii U online talk from Reggie, cross-platform play with 3DS likely different that competitors, no 3D in near future, more

Reggie on how Nintendo can explain Wii U to those who haven’t played it…
“What we are doing with Wii U is creating an ability for games to leverage two different screens; the big screen in your room, and the smaller handheld screen in front of you. By doing so it opens up all of these different experiences. The experience I use to describe it to someone is to imagine a first person shooter, where instead of constantly having to look at the screen, now I’ve got things happening all around me.
“It’s a great experience. I don’t think it’s going to be a hard sell. I think that communicating to consumers through the magic of the second window, you can have a totally unique experience, with another player still in the room… I don’t think it’s a difficult sell.”

Metal Max 2 remake in development for DS
Posted on 13 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in DS, News | 0 comments
A new Metal Max game (well, kind of) for DS is apparently in the works for the DS. Yes, DS, not 3DS! Magazine leaks from Famitsu indicate that Metal Max 2 Reloaded, a remake of the SNES game, is heading to Japan this winter. Limited edition packages will be prepared for the title’s release.
This was a pretty light leak, since actual details about the game haven’t been posted anywhere just yet. Hopefully we’ll get some details and scans soon.

XSEED realistic about Solatorobo sales expectations, Nintendo of Europe made localization decision easier
Posted on 13 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in DS, News | 0 comments
The truth of the matter is that Solatorobo is not going to sell like gangbusters. I’m going to do my part this fall by picking up this outstanding title and I hope you guys plan on purchasing it as well. But the chances of it doing extremely well aren’t exactly through the roof.
XSEED seems to be feeling the same way. Although they’re hopeful it’ll do well, they’re also being “realistic about the type of sales we may see”.
Ken Berry, Director of Publishing at XSEED, told Siliconera:
“We’re definitely worried and that’s one of the things we discussed with Namco. We had to make sure that their expectations are inline with the realities of the market now. I think both of us, meaning Xseed and Namco, are going into this project hopeful because its such a great title, but we’re also realistic about the type of sales we may see due to overall environment of the DS market right now.”
It’s also interesting to hear that Solatorob has been on XSEED’s radar for quite some time. Nintendo of Europe’s decision to publish the game was the final push the company needed to localize the game:
“We have been keeping an eye on this title for awhile. Thankfully, due to our good relationship with Namco Bandai, having done Fragile Dreams and Sky Crawlers with them before, we have an open channel of communication. We were weighing before whether to do this title or not and once we found out Nintendo of Europe was already localizing this into English it made our decision much easier. This is a title the developer, CyberConnect2, are super passionate about and they really wanted to see it released in the U.S. and they worked with us to make it happen.”
