General Nintendo

May’s NPD figures, which would have been released on June 9, will now instead be available on the 13th. The delay makes quite a bit of sense, as the report would have been published right in the middle of E3.

Keep in mind that the date has simply been pushed back a few days. Nothing else has changed. In other words, the reporting period is still the same. May’s NPD will cover all data received from 1 May to 28 May.

You may not be away of this, but Robin Williams’ daughter, Zelda, is a huge fan of Nintendo. Believe it or not, she was named after Princess Zelda.

Her interest in Link’s adventures and the Big N’s other franchises may have helped her to secure work on a “Super Secret Nintendo” project. Williams posted these comments on Twitter earlier this week:

“The Super Secret Nintendo shoot has begun! More fun pics as the day progresses. Stay tuned! Nintendo set update: don’t be fooled, even directors get tired! That’s a wrap on Super Secret Nintendo set part 1! Look, real building, fake skyline”

With E3 so close, there’s a possibility that Williams is involved with some of Nintendo’s plans for the show. Perhaps she appears in some sort of video for Skyward Sword or a feature for Zelda’s 25th anniversary.

Kojima Productions brought along two titles to E3 2010. Those games were Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater 3D and Metal Gear Solid: Rising. It looks like we’ll be seeing more projects from the studio again at this year’s E3.

According to the latest Kojima Report podcast, “special”/several announcements will be made by the company. We’ll have to wait until Konami’s June 2nd pre-E3 event for more details. A special podcast will be released to further discuss and comment on the reveals. Hopefully we’ll hear more about Snake Eater 3D.

Street Fighter producer Yoshinori Ono has previously stated that he wouldn’t mind seeing Mega Man making an appearance in the Smash Bros. franchise at some point. However, that’s not the only Capcom character he’d like to include in one of the series’ games. Ono told NGamer that, if he had to choose someone from the Street Fighter roster, he’d be interested in adding M. Bison. He explained his decision to the magazine:

“Personally speaking, and expanding the roster to all of Capcom, I really wanted Mega Man to be in Smash Bros. because I think he kind of fits in that world. If I had to confine it to Street Fighter then it would definitely be M Bison, because I’d love that sort of mega-villian to fall upon all those pretty Nintendo characters and cause complete chaos.”

Thanks to joclo for the tip!

Update: SEGA told Famitsu that they’ll be bringing Sonic-related content to the show. Sonic Generations is included, which we now know will be released for the 3DS.

There were a few announcements at Konami’s E3 conference last year, though none of them were truly noteworthy. Might this year be different? Apparently so. According to this week’s Famitsu, Konami will be sharing reveals for existing franchises and brand new projects. The magazine states that an E3 site will open on June 3 and more information will be available next week. Konami will be hosting a pre-E3 show on June 2.

Team Ninja/Tecmo Koei also discussed some of their plans for this year’s E3. They’ll be featuring a game which already has a teaser trailer (unfortunately for Nintendo fans, this is most likely Ninja Gaiden 3), and other secrets will be revealed as well. It’s possible that some new support for the 3DS could be shown, or perhaps Project Cafe.

Famitsu could have some E3 scoops over the next couple of weeks as the trade show approaches. As always, we’ll be sure to bring you the latest information from the magazine.

This image is clearly fake, but I thought I’d post it on the site just for fun. Expect more fabricated stories/images/videos as we come closer to E3.

There’s also been a rumor about a Smash Bros. game being announced for Project Cafe at E3, though I think it goes without saying that the speculation is nothing more than, well, speculation!
