General Nintendo

The following quote comes from an interview between Eiji Aonuma and the Official Nintendo Magazine:

“Yes, there is a master timeline, but it’s confidential document! The only people to have access to that document are myself, Mr. Miyamoto and the director of the title. We can’t share it with anyone else! I have already talked to Mr. Miyamoto about this so I am comfortable in releasing this information – this title [Skyward Sword] takes place before Ocarina of Time. If I said that a certain title was ‘the first Zelda game’, then that means that we can’t ever make a title that takes place before that! So for us to add titles to the series, we have to have a way of putting the titles before or after each other.” – Eiji Aonuma

Finally, we know the truth about all of this nonsense! Granted we’ll probably never know for sure exactly which games go where, but at least having the knowledge that we’re not all crazy is wonderful news!

A few days ago, Famitsu told readers that they had secured a big feature for this week’s issue. The game turned out to be non Nintendo-related, but perhaps the next edition of the magazine could bring in some important news about the Wii or DS. Famitsu once again teased its readers, noting that surprising scoops will be shared for their July 29 issue. Unsurprisingly, no further details were shared, so we’ll just have to wait until leaks begin to appear one week from today.

EA will be hosting its annual Studio Showcase event once again this year, and it sounds like it will be quite exciting for fans. On their Twitter account, the company stated that a few games will be revealed tomorrow. Announcements will most likely be made for a number of platforms, across different genres. Gamers can watch a live stream of the event on GameSpot when the festivities begin tomorrow at 1 PM PST. We’ll let you know if any Nintendo-related news comes from the showcase.

– Ace Attorney series is finished with Apollo Justice, Takumi believes
– Not sure whether to make another Phoenix Wright game or something original
– Takumi found inspiration for the Ace Attorney titles in mystery novels that he read when he was young
– On the 3DS: “We’ll definitely move onto the 3DS with our ideas. I really liked the 3D camera and gyro sensor possibilities, and I’m already thinking of ways for taking advantage of it”.
– Takumi likes Phoenix and Godo, may be his favorite characters
– Because the original Ace Attorney team only had 5 staff members, Takumi was the voice actor for Phoenix

Thanks to Robert for the tip!

SONIC – Roger Craig Smith

Roger is donning the red sneakers as your new voice actor for Sonic.

Sonic is not the first big name character for Roger’s to voice either; he is perhaps best known for his portrayal of Chris Redfield in Resident Evil 5, he voiced Ezio Auditore da Firenze in Assassin’s Creed 2 and tortured protagonist Siegfried Schtauffen in Soulcalibur IV. Anime and manga fans will also recognise Roger’s vocal talents from the Naruto series where he voiced the character Deidara and from Bleach where he leant his voice to both Shinji Hirako and Noba/Nova.

He’s no stranger to SEGA fans either- though you might not know it.

In the last couple of years he’s been heard in Valkyria Chronicles where he voiced Ted Ustinov, Vyse Inglebard, Johann Oswald Wisen and other additional voices. In MADWORLD where he specifically voiced the Greys, the younger son of “The Masters” and more. In Resonance Of Fate he was the voice of the Barman and going back a bit further Roger also voiced several of the passengers in Crazy Taxi: Fare Wars for the PSP.

We welcome Roger to this exciting new role as the fastest thing alive!

TAILS – Kate Higgins

I think it’d be fair to say that in Kate Higgins, we’ve got a potentially great vocalisation for Tails. I was VERY pleased she was chosen. The name may not be familiar but once more you have heard her in SEGA games – again Valkyria Chronicles (Cordelia gi Randgriz, Martha Lipponen, Freesia York) and MADWORLD (Naomi / RinRin).
Perhaps her biggest voice acting role though is as the English voice of the character Sakura Haruno in Naruto. But voice acting isn’t the only significant string to her bow.
Kate is a very accomplished jazz pianist and singer and has produced five albums – in fact why not have a listen to one of her tracks now? I really like this track personally.

The pictures above “The Stars of Famicom Games.” The book is actually quite old, but there are some neat things to be seen. There are a few images of Shigeru Miyamoto (as well as Koji Kondo) in his early years, a picture of Takashi Tezuka’s desk which includes SEGA Mega Drive games, and shots of how Famicom cartridges were created.

This information comes from an update from Hironobu Sakaguchi on Mistwalker’s site…

“Me and my team poured 120% of our energy into this title…I am completely pouring everything into this one, there is a strong feeling this may be my last work.”

Sakaguchi is only 47, but he’s been a part of the video game industry for a very long time. As many fans know, he started the Final Fantasy series. I’d like to see more of Sakguchi’s work for many years to come, but he will have to call it quits eventually.

As you can see in the video above, a glitch allows players to climb down the second ladder in Donkey Kong and more or less takes you to the end of the level. A lot of gamers are aware of this apparently, but I personally never even tried it! How about you guys?

According to ArchAngelUK, SEGA will be sharing an update about Sonic Colors tomorrow. However, there’s also some important news that will be revealed on Thursday. It’s apparently so significant that the SEGA Europe community manager went as far as to say on the latest Radio Redux podcast that it’s “franchise-changing news.” We know that SEGA is also working on a Sonic title for the 3DS, so I wonder if it’s at all related to that title. Thursday is just a few days away, so it won’t be long until we find out what the hype is all about.
