Christmas Wii sales are expected to be “up more than 100%” according to Wedbush Morgan’s Michael Pachter. Patcher said, “I haven’t done the work for NPD yet, but my guess is that 360 sales were flat or up a little, PS3 sales down a little, and Wii sales up more than 100%. That would end up around 1.2 – 1.3 million 360s, around 700,000 PS3s and around 3 million (or more) Wiis.”

Official estimates from Patcher should be released early next week. The NPD sales numbers for December will be revealed on January 15.

“2009 will also see Resident Evil 5 finally released, and it’ll also then see us on to our next step. We haven’t shown what Capcom has in store for 2009 yet, so I hope we can surprise you all soon.” – Jun Takeuchi, producer of Resident Evil 5

Capcom’s Christian Svensson stated not too long ago that the company has some tricks up their sleeves for 2009…And then Monster Hunter G was revealed. I’m not entirely sure if Takeuchi is referring to the Wii when he mentions that he hopes Capcom can surprise us, but it is possible.

Battle details

– choose command
– screen rotates to monster perspective when being attacked
– camera zooms out for certain spells
– ‘Hissatsu moves’ are available when you have low hit points. These are special attacks that deal out big damage
– different character classes have different ‘Hissatsu moves’
– ‘Hissatsu’ command lights up when move is available
– Soldier ‘Hissatsu move’ = Excellent Hit
– if all characters use ‘Hissatsu moves’ at the same time, you get a ‘Super Hissatsu move’

New monsters

– Nubon: sluggish and lazy for the most part, but may suddenly strike with a boulder throw
– Desert Runner: very fast
– Upa Soldier: specializes in dodging attacks
– Snail Frog: cross between a snail and a frog, attacks with a lick that immobilizes you
