Capcom “cautiously optimistic” with Mega Man 9 sales so far
Posted on 16 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Wii | 1 Comment
Mega Man 9 officially launched on the PSN, XBLA, and WiiWare services a few days ago. There are not many sales figures to dissect as of yet since the game essentially just released, though Capcom is somewhat pleased with the numbers thus far. Said Christian Svensson, Corporate Officer/VP of Strategic Planning & Business Development, “Any numbers you’ve seen or quoted are not correct. That said, I think we’re cautiously optimistic about MM9’s performance.” This means that the 140,000 US downloads number is incorrect. At this time, it seems that Capcom is only aware well-aware of the game’s performance.

Eidos Brings Monster Lab To Nintendo Wii and Nintendo DS

Eidos Interactive, one of the world’s leading publishers and developers of entertainment software, is pleased to announce MONSTER LAB, a brand new RPG action game for the Nintendo Wii and Nintendo DS.
MONSTER LAB is set in the eerie world of Uncanny Valley where the evil Baron Mharti rules with a cruel hand. The player takes on the role of an apprentice scientist who must perform a vast array of intricate experiments to create their very own monster from over 100 million possible monster part variations on offer. Taking control of your monster, the player can then explore the land; searching for ingredients to make more monster parts, hunting out other monsters to defeat in combat, uncovering quests to embark upon or simply competing in the numerous mini-games available.
“Monster Lab will offer a wealth of fresh ideas to both Wii and DS players,” said Fabien Rossini, Global Brand Controller, Eidos. “These include gesture based combat, a compelling on-line fighting and trading system and total customization of the player’s monster.”
As a 3rd party online Wii game, players can challenge and compete with their friends in fast-paced, ferocious monster to monster multiplayer combat – or even trade with friends to collect the items and monster parts needed to build the strongest monster.
The ultimate goal is to vanquish the evil Baron Mharti and liberate the villagers through mastering experiments, creating a powerful army of monsters and conquering all of the vast environments, only then will the player rise through the ranks and become a scientist worthy of defeating the Baron!
Developed by Backbone Vancouver, Monster Lab is set for release on Nintendo Wii and Nintendo DS in 2008.
WiiSpeak and MotionPlus will be integrated into The Conduit
Posted on 16 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Wii | 0 comments
Just a few weeks ago, High Voltage Software stated that they would soon be receiving their Wii MotionPlus and WiiSpeak development kits. Now, Eric Nofsinger of HVS has gone on record and confirmed that the development team is aiming to include MotionPlus in some form.
“We’re hooking it [MotionPlus] up. We want to support it. Probably for this version of the game there’s not going to be a whole ton of really extensive use of the Wii MotionPlus. For the sequel to the game, we definitely do want to incorporate more melee and things like that. We want to support it…It would be a mistake for a developer to require too many peripherals or things like that. The game has to be fun with just the Wiimote and nunchuck. Even if you don’t have connectivity online, even if you don’t have WiiSpeak, even if you don’t have Wii MotionPlus…if you don’t have anything but your Wii and the game, it’s got to be fun.”
Nofsinger added that “an army of testers working” will be working on trying out The Conduit and the development team wanted to guarantee nothing in the game would be gimmicky. A publisher announcement is coming very soon.
Don’t worry about Club Nintendo in North America
Posted on 16 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in General Nintendo, News | 0 comments
The announcement of Club Nintendo’s availability in North America, although overdue, was also startling. If you remember, just a little less than a year ago, good ‘ol Perrin Kaplan stated that it would be very expensive to run such a service in North America. Even with the encouraging news, a possibility remained that Club Nintendo in North America could end up offering nothing more than desktop wallpapers and paper cooking hats. Don’t worry, though – New information has come to light that may alleviate some concerns about Club Nintendo in North America.
The big N seems very adamant in providing a smooth and successful program. The company is actually looking to hire a “Nintendo Club Specialist” for North America, under a contract job. Responsibilities include determining and selecting “all aspects of Club Nintendo incentive program ranging from promotion of program, selection and procurement of premium rewards, updating of catalog online, and formulating new initiatives and campaigns.”
Other duties include coordinating “with NCL on initiatives such as acquiring assets, coordinating schedules, procuring product, and adjusting online research questionnaires” in addition to coordinating “the release of add-on content both for WiiWare games as well as disc-based games.”
To conclude, Club Nintendo doesn’t seem like it’ll be a useless program when it arrives later this year. NCL will be somewhat involved and add-on content is a possible focus for the service. At the very least, expect more than desktop wallpapers.
