Rumors

A duo of clues may indicate that Nintendo plans on announcing the Nintendo DSi for North America in the coming days. The first pictures of the North American box have been found, which indicate that Nintendo has already provided a few produced units to websites/magazines.

Another clue from IGN says that their weekly podcast has been delayed due to “a rampaging Bowser, a zombie infestation, or an upcoming handheld announcement.”

IGN previously stated that the system would ship in North American on April 1. An upcoming announcement could indeed be for that date.

Not too long ago, rumored photos of the character model from a new Kid Icarus title were leaked. And now, a short video of the character in motion has apparently been discovered. As with all rumors, it’d be wise to keep a bit of doubt about the latest rumors in mind. Like last week, I’d like to reiterate that this is not 100% confirmed and this design may not have even been used as the final model.

Thanks to Josh for the news tip.

More alleged details of The Conduit’s multiplayer functionality have been revealed at this year’s New York Comic Con. Apparently, Eric Nofsinger of High Voltage stated that the game will have a lobby system. Thanks to the lobby system, friends will be able to hook up their Wii Speak accessories and talk with each other. At the same time, gamers can continue to search for a battle with random people, whether it is local or worldwide play.

Nofsinger also said that the game will have 18 weapons and hinted at about ten maps (though he did not confirm this completely).

Nintendo Power promised the scoop on The Conduit’s multiplayer mode, but a few early details have apparently been released. If the latest rumors are to be believed, The Conduit will support 16 players online and will include friend codes. This information allegedly comes from High Voltage Software’s Matt Corso, but there is not an official confirmation. Though nothing has been confirmed, these details are more than likely to be true. Granted this information is correct, this means that there is still a major online Wii title out there that will not be supporting friend codes.

The latest rumor surrounding Kid Icarus is that the character model from the game has been leaked. Before anyone starts going crazy, let me point out that this is just a rumor. We don’t know if this is really a possible character model Factor 5 would have used/is using for Kid Icarus on the Wii, nor do we know that this is even real – Hence why I marked this as a rumor. With that said, I personally have mixed feelings about the character model. I’m not really loving it, but it’s not the worst thing I’ve seen either.

A few rumors regarding Factor 5 and Silicon Knights have popped up, mostly related to the Wii. First off, in spite of the well-known issues Factor 5 has been facing, apparently all projects are still being worked on. Additionally, an announcement is expected from the company in the next two weeks. Will we finally hear word on Kid Icarus?

Also noteworthy is Silicon Knights interest in the Nintendo’s console. Though nothing has been confirmed outright, the latest rumors state that the company might be creating a Wii game. Silicon Knights has expressed openness to the system before, and has had experience with a Nintendo system before (GameCube, Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes/Eternal Darkness).

Lastly, there has been some talk about Dead Rising: Chop Till You Drop and the zombie count yet again. Concerns about the number of zombies has been well-documented, but apparently there will be a sufficient amount. This statement is quite similar to what Nintendo Power said in a previous issue.

It’s unclear at this time if this game will be released for a Nintendo system – or even for any console – but this footage looks pretty legitimate if you ask me.

Numerous sources have stated that the DSi, Nintendo’s latest handheld creation, has been given a price point and release date for North America. The system would launch in April at $179.99. The specific date given for release is April 4. Naturally, Nintendo declined to comment. Though this story has been checked with three independent sources, mark this down as a rumor until Nintendo of America officially confirms the news.

Kid Icarus’ speculated debut on the Wii has gone down a long and winding road. Art of what apparently was a new entry in the series for Wii was leaked quite a few months ago, and rumor after rumor kept piling up. Now word has it that Kid Icarus was scheduled to be present at E3 2008, which isn’t entirely too difficult to believe.

Though, internal problems with Factor 5 – who has been tied to the developed of the new Kid Icarus game – prevented any sort of appearance from happening. Nintendo planned on releasing the title a few months after it was revealed at E3, but that fell through as well. These issues allegedly left Nintendo of America feeling “pretty bummed.”

As of now, the game’s status is in jeopardy considering the trouble that the company has been going through lately. IGN’s Matt Casamassina suggested in the latest Nintendo Voice Chat podcast that the state of Factor 5 could lead Nintendo to purchase the company. Who knows – Perhaps doing so will be the only way that gamers will be able to see Kid Icarus from Factor 5 on the Wii.
