Rumors

shen.jpg

Coming from the rumors section of Game Reactor, a Swedish gaming magazine…

“Shenmue is back! Sega has rereleased classics like Nights, Bass Fishing and House of the Dead lately. Now it’s said that Shenmue is next. But don’t think that it’s about a new game, instead, they’re bringing back the two original Shenmue games with extra Wiimote-minigames which will be released for the Wii.”

For those who are unaware, Shenmue was originally released for the Dreamcast by Sega. Perhaps this can turn into a similar situation to NiGHTS?

During the latest 1UP.com podcast – 1UP Yours – Shane Bettenhausen claimed that Nintendo will have no guns in store for Q4 of 2008. There may be a title here or there, but nothing major. I am sure that much will be announced at E3 (perhaps even Nintendo’s full 2008 schedule), although this notion contradicts Reggie Fils-Aime. It was only two months ago that Reggie promised a huge “gamers game” for the holiday season.

Animal Crossing, Kid Icarus, or even Pikmin are possible games that could release later this year. Will Nintendo really let three or so months pass without a big release?

Nintendo Power’s moon, rumblings on the web, and now even more tidbits seem to be pointing in the direction that Castlevania will see releases on the Nintendo DS and Wii. Apparently, Shinji Hirano who is the executive VP for Konami USA, was in San Paulo and went on the record by noting brand spanking new Castlevania games will be coming out for the DS and Wii. It is unconfirmed at this point in time whether or not Mr. Hirano did appear in San Paulo, but the same source claims the two new titles will be shown off next week at a U.S. Konami event.

kid_icarus_1.jpg

– artwork comes from early 2008 pitch document, art style has since evolved
– Nintendo showed interest in Factor 5 developed project, but no confirmation of green lit project has been announced
– early Factor 5 pitched storyline involves Pit being “cursed for thousands of years for a crime and becomes a ‘fallen angel’.” He sports a tattoo on his arm to mark his crime
– Nintendo has “no comment” on all art and information presented

As is the case with most unannounced information, I would consider this a rumor for the time being. At this point in time, however, it seems tangible that we could see Kid Icarus at E3 this year.

Jeux-France reports that Valve – known for innovative titles such as Portal – is currently expressing interest to develop a game for the Nintendo Wii. On the downside, however, there are no apparent plans to release such a game until 2010 at the earliest. Also, the same report suggests that the game would be intended for children.

Regardless of the intended audience, I’m quite interested as to what Valve could brew up for the Wii. If Portal was any indication, it will be unique.

Target Toss Pro: Bags was announced today via an IGN interview. The basics of the game were discussed, though when pricing was brought up, Andy Kniaz of Incredible Technology noted, “In the end, Nintendo sets all pricing for WiiWare based on the game and its contents.” From what I can recall, weren’t developers able to ultimately place a price point on their own games? Are there exceptions to this? Or, is this nothing more than an error on Andy Kniaz? Either way, I’m sure we’ll find out in due time.

Kotoba no Puzzle: Mojipittan Wii (1000 points) – 72,971
FFCC: My Life as a King (1000 points) – 129,904
Dr. Mario & Bacteria Extermination (1000 points) – 43,354
Everyone’s Pokemon Ranch (1000points) – 234,745

Unfortunately, this bit of news comes from a fairly unreliable source. Until we see official numbers from Nintendo or a more reliable source, I’d consider this a rumor for the time being.

According to the scan, Street Fighter IV will be coming to Wii. Most video game followers assumed that such a title would not be able to run on the Wii and any possibility of it coming over to the system was ruled out (in spite of Capcom claiming that the game could appear on any console). This bit of information does not come from a well-known magazine and errors in magazines are fairly common. Thus, I suppose we will have to wait for an official statement from Capcom or a press release in order to determine the validity of the magazine’s claim.

Paper Mario coming to DS?

Posted on 16 years ago by (@NE_Brian) in DS, Rumors | 0 comments

papermario.jpg

Paper Mario was one of the greatest games on the Nintendo 64, and has even branched out onto the GameCube and Wii. Considering the enormous success the DS has earned, one would assume Paper Mario – now a mainstream franchise for Nintendo – would migrate the system. It appears Nintendo may be attempting to do so via a port. A listing has been revealed which includes the first Paper Mario game from the Nintendo 64 heading to the DS. Although fans would most likely prefer an original game over a port, the option to have Paper Mario on the go is an enticing option. As with most unconfirmed news, however, I would consider this a rumor.

UPDATE: I’m pretty sure that this information is fake. The logo appears to be a near replica of the F-Zero AX logo.

Mario, Zelda, and Metroid. These big three Nintendo guns have been released on the Nintendo Wii, but other well-known franchises such as Animal Crossing and F-Zero have not. According to one particular source, “F-Zero Z” will be announced at this year’s E3. Fans can expect an online mode and a weapons system. Because this hasn’t been officially confirmed, I advise to stay hopefully optimistic.
