Whoops!

We were on a nice little stretch of no site downtime, but I’m sure that most of you noticed that we did indeed experience some issues over the past 3 hours or so. I apologize for that, but our tech guy tackled the issue and everything is back up and running. Basically, one of the main issues was that the server ran out of space. Again though, that’s all taken care of. I apologize that the site went down, but hey, it could have been worse, right?!

Note from Valay: I checked over the submissions as well and I was pretty impressed. Don’t be discouraged if you didn’t win this challenge though, as there will be a few other oppoortunities before someone is chosen to receive the free VC/WiiWare game.

Sorry about the delay guys, I’ve been super busy and barely have the time to type this up as it is! Taking that into account, let’s cut past the chit chat and get right into the meat!

Hey all! I’ve just got a quick of update for everyone regarding some recent happenings with the site.

Scribblenauts Contest

As many of you are aware, the past two weeks have been home to the very first Scribblenauts challenge in our bi-weekly contest, and submissions are officially closed! I’ve started looking over the solutions you all put forward, and I must say, I’m impressed! Reading over what you guys thought up sure made me feel unimaginative! Nevertheless, a winner will be announced tomorrow evening, and a video of their solution being completed will be posted to showcase what they did! Good luck to everyone that gave it a shot, and remember, if you didn’t win this time you can always try again in the next challenge! In addition to the winner, the next challenge will also be posted tomorrow. Hope to see everyone again for the next round!

Second note from Valay: I’m going to be bumping this to the front page each night so that everyone has a chance to find out about this contest!

Note from Valay: Just wanted to let you all know that Austin will be handling this contest for the most part. I’m still going to have an active role, but Austin was the one who came up with the idea for the whole thing. The first challenge will be posted next week, as it mentioned at the end of the post. Next week we’ll let you know which email to send the entries to.

Scribblenauts – How creative are YOU?

A little game with a big vocabulary challenges your imagination. We’re here to do the same.

Scribblenauts released a couple of weeks ago, and it’s no surprise to anyone that the game was an instant hit. My local Toys R Us sold out within 10 minutes of getting the first shipment, and I’ve heard countless other stories of similar cases across the country. The reason for this is simple: It’s one of the only games that truly challenges a player’s imagination with nearly limitless possibilities, from animals to objects to weapons and buildings. This provides gamers with an almost impossibly large amount of options when it come to solving a puzzle in the game, and we at Nintendo Everything want to challenge our readers, readers of other sites, and world-wide fans of Scribblenauts to put their skills to the test.

It’s been awhile since we’ve had a dedicated post for Nintendo Everything updates, hasn’t it? But now I actually have some pretty exciting news to share!

Some of you may know of Jason Tanner. He’s become a fairly regular commentator on the site over the past few months, so the name might be recognizable. Jason and I have been talking over the past few days and we were able to work out an agreement that will provide a huge boost for original content on the site. Basically, Jason will be handling a number of our reviews and also (in what will be a first for NE), interviews with developers.

This is something that I’m happy we could work out, mainly because we’ve been lacking in the features department as of late. But with Jason’s additions, we’re going to have all of our bases covered. I’ll still be covering news while reviewing some games/working on other features here and there, Austin will be our middleman with a mixture of news/reviews/articles, and Jason will only be handling reviews/interviews. Basically, you’re going to see the amount of content here go way up!

Jason has actually written a little blurb for you guys, which explains how he initially found interest in gaming. We’ve posted it after the break, but first I wanted to fill you all in on some other news.

We’re going to begin hosting a number of Scribblenauts contests in the near future. Details will be posted tomorrow, but I think that it’ll be a great way to promote more of a community aspect on the site. I don’t want to give much away for now, but I hope you check back in to see what it’s all about!

Last but not least (I’m sorry this is going on so long!), Jason’s first review will be going up later tonight. He’s been playing through Wii Fit Plus and has compiled his thoughts into one lovely post for you guys. Jason actually has a slightly different review structure than Austin and I employ, but I think it works quite well. You can read all about it after the break!

Hey guys!

Just wanted to let you all know that I have returned from my trip. Although I did have a pretty good time, it made me realize how much the site has become such a big part of my life. Honestly, I did miss updating the site and maintaining my regular schedule. I’m just glad Austin did an admirable job while I was gone…And I’m also happy the site didn’t experience any technical issues.

In any case, I’m not going to drag this on long…I’ll get back to updating NE in a few short minutes.

Vacation time

Bumping this post to the front page for now – Seeya later, guys!

Well guys, I hate to leave you behind but…I’m going off on a vacation for a few days. This will allow me to refresh my mind, get a change in scenery, and come back completely refreshed to provide you all with what we hope is the best Nintendo coverage.

Unlike last year’s vacation though, you should be covered in terms of Nintendo news. Unfortunately, an editor bailed out on us last August but I’m not expecting a similar situation this year. Austin will indeed be taking over the site while I’m away and will be handling the news on the site. He’s done this plenty of times before so I don’t foresee any problems – Unless the site explodes, of course.

I will be leaving a little bit later today and will return sometime on Thursday. However, while I’m gone, I will be popping in to do a few news posts here and there. So, I won’t be leaving completely!

I’m going to continue with a few news posts and will be bumping this post to the front page before I leave. Hope you guys don’t miss me too much!

A few changes

Note: Bumping this post to the front page for the rest of the day

You may have noticed that, over the past few days, the site has been experiencing a few technical problems. Now that everything’s settled though, I can talk about what’s been going on and what the future holds for Nintendo Everything.

A number of months ago, I was contacted by a reputable advertising firm that was interested in collaborating with the site. There’s no way of hiding the small layout changes on the site – not that I’d want to keep anything a secret from you guys anyway. We do indeed have a few more ads on the page, but I feel as though what we have up now isn’t overwhelming. Aside from the slightly increased vertical ad on the sidebar, we’ve only added two units (we’ve removed an ad from the bottom of the page). And no, we have not implemented any pop-up ads and have no intentions of ever doing so.

Like I’ve said in the past, we want to provide our readers with the most enjoyable experience when visiting NE. That’s pretty much why talks have been ongoing for such a long time. The good news is that, with these types of ads, they could be interesting to you guys, and your visit to the site will be the same. In other words, unlike ads that many other agencies initiate, the ads you will see on NE will mostly be video game or technology related (although the Google ads will need a few days to adjust to the content.) There may be a few ads here and there that aren’t technology-oriented, but overall, I think you’ll be content with the types of ads on the site.

I really feel that this partnership could bring Nintendo Everything to the next level, especially in terms of the amount of support I can provide. We’ll see how things go, but I definitely hope to do more frequent contests and giveaways. Also, we are looking to push more original content in the future (this is another topic Austin and I have been discussing over the past few months.) while still providing you with the most up-to-date news, reviews, features, and other little goodies.

One last point – Your feedback is critical. I care about what you guys think of the ads, the site in general, and pretty much anything else you’d like to bring up.

Now before this message becomes too long, please know that, as I said earlier, there are plans for the site as the months go on. We hope that you guys continue to stick with us and fortunately, the future of NE is looking very bright!

Bumping this to the front page for the final time this week. And I’m happy to say that I’m not going to be gone very long at all. If all goes well, I will be back in three hours or so. I’m not entirely sure if Austin will be here to provide you guys with updates until then, but if he doesn’t, hang in there until I return!

Just wanted to bump this to the front page. Austin will have site duties again for most of the day, but now I’m not actually sure when I’ll be back! If I’m lucky, hopefully at around 5:30 PM EST…But we’ll see. Until then, have a fun time with Austin!

I’m going to try to make this as short as possible without sounding too silly, but…Basically, Austin is going to be taking over the site the next few days. Let’s just say that I’ll be taking a break of sorts. I’ll be leaving the site at around 8 AM EST today and there’s a strong chance that I won’t be back until 11 PM. This applies again tomorrow. For Wednesday, I’ll only be gone in the morning for a few hours.

Fortunately, Austin will be taking over the site for me while I’m away. He’s done this all before, as some of you have seen during night hours, so I have faith that everything will be perfectly fine! My last post for will be the weekly VC/DSiWare/WiiWare update, but I’m sure that Austin will be here to continue with updates fairly soon.

Thanks guys!
