3DS

When Nintendo and SEGA announced Mario & Sonic at the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games during a Nintendo Direct earlier this year, only a Wii U version was mentioned. Later, however, it was thought that a 3DS version was also in the works. Well, so much for that!

SEGA has now officially said in an interview with N1ntendo that Mario & Sonic at the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games is only planned for Wii U. A 3DS version is not in development, according to the company.

Alongside today’s new Super Smash Bros. 3DS screenshot, Masahiro Sakurai took to Miiverse and posted a short but noteworthy tidbit about the game.

Smash Bros. 3DS is different than the Wii U version in the sense that it features character outlines. However, they’ll fully customizable. Sakurai confirmed that you’ll be able to make them thinner or turn them off entirely.

Sakurai wrote:

“I guess we haven’t shown the Villager or the Wii Fit Trainer on the 3DS until now. By the way, their outlines can be made thinner or made to disappear completely.”
