3DS

tri-Ace has shared some information regarding Beyond the Labyrinth’s costume creation features. Director Takayuki Suguro and art director Kentaro Kagami talked with Japanese gaming site 4Gamer to provide the details.

The two revealed the following details:

– Costume creation tool made from scratch
– Suguro joked that they knew players would want the ability to change the characters’ costumes, but because creating costumes would be a lot of work for the designers, they decided to let the players create the costumes for themselves
– Drawings made on the touch screen can be seen in real time on the girl’s clothing on the top screen
– Change the girl’s hair color
– Save edits to the SD card in JPEG format
– Can only edit the girl’s costume
– No love components where the girl’s behavior will change based off your actions

Nintendo has revealed U.S. sales figures for Super Mario 3D Land, Zelda: Skyward Sword, and hardware numbers for Black Friday.

Both titles have already set records. Mario moved 500,000 units its debut earlier this month and has become the fastest-selling portable Mario game.

Zelda: Skyward Sword has experienced great success, too. The title has sold a whopping 535,000 units since its November 20 launch. Skyward Sword is now the fastest-selling Zelda ever.

As far as hardware goes, last week’s 3DS sales were up 325% compared to the week of November 6. When Super Mario 3D Land was released, sales increased 49% over the previous week. The Wii sold 500,000 units during Black Friday and the pre-Black Friday openings.

Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime commented on the 3DS, Black Friday sales, and Fortune Street:

“What this has been able to do is drive our Nintendo 3DS business in only eight months to surpass the full first year volume of the original DS and we still have the bulk of the holiday to go, and we still have the launch of Mario Kart 7 (out Sunday, Dec. 4) to continue driving our full-year sales on Nintendo 3DS.”

“We know that Black Friday and that entire week is a key selling week and it is important for products like ours to have a jump in momentum and we were fortunate to see that. For us, it really was driven by unique and powerful software and what gives us confidence is that we still have more software to launch in the balance of this holiday period.”

“(Fortune Street) is a franchise that has sold quite well in Japan. Imagine a board game meeting a grow-your- business all done in a video context with Mario and other Nintendo characters, as well as characters from Square Enix. It’s a very interesting very unqiue title. We think it is going to do quite well for us during the holiday.”
