Capcom’s Leipzig lineup

Posted on 16 years ago by (@NE_Brian) in News, Wii | 0 comments

Capcom has announced its lineup for Leipzig. The company may decide to add more games to this list, but as for now, the games are:

– Street Fighter IV (PS3, Xbox 360)
– Bionic Commando (PS3, Xbox 360)
– MotoGP 08 (PS3, Xbox 360, Wii, PS2)
– Dark Void (PS3, Xbox 360)

In a long interview with the ONM, Masahiro Sakuri took a few moments to discuss his involvement in another possible Smash Bros. game.

“It’s interesting, because after every Smash Bros. game I’ve made, I’ve always felt at that time that I’ve left nothing out. However, I also understand that there are millions of fans out there who love the series so if Mr Iwata came to me in a few years time and asked me to make another one, I’d have to give it some serious thought.” – Masahiro Sakurai

Not only is Brawl one of the top rated games on the Wii, but is also one of the best-selling games on the system. None of the games in the Smash Bros. series ever disappoint with Sakurai’s guidance, so it would be best if he somehow had an influential role in the next game.

Live by the Sword…Die by the Blade!

Wall, NJ – July 31, 2008 – SNK PLAYMORE USA CORPORATION, the U.S. publishing arm of the SNK PLAYMORE CORPORATION, announced today the forthcoming release of SAMURAI SHODOWN II for Wii™ Virtual Console™ on August 4th 2008.

Regarded as one of SNK’s greatest games ever produced, SAMURAI SHODOWN II successfully integrated a brand new, dynamic fighting system that was years ahead of its time. The fighting system introduced players to several new offensive and defensive maneuvers including the ability to roll both forwards and backwards, ducking to avoid high attacks, hopping to avoid low attacks and the implementation of a ‘parry’ system that would allow players to deflect incoming attacks at the last second if performed successfully. In addition to the newly revised fighting system, SAMURAI SHODOWN II also features 16 unique playable characters, hidden bosses, a two player versus mode and of course all of the wonderful translations fans have grown to love.

In the latest issue of the Official Nintendo Magazine – which should be available in the UK now – there is an interview with Katsuya Eguchi, producer of Animal Crossing: City Folk. Eguchi was asked if a microphone was specifically requested for the game. “We’re always sharing information with the hardware group and all the teams within Nintendo so we can keep track of things. But in this case we were talking and they told me that they had this microphone in development and I said, ‘Really, that would work well with Animal Crossing. Here’s what we’d like it to do…’” Ecuchi was also inquired about the boarded room in the city. “Yeah, it’s near the shoe-shine guy. It’s just a boarded up door, I’m afraid – there’s actually nothing there. However, there are other areas that haven’t been revealed yet!” Other areas in store…How about a dance club with a special appearance by Mario?

Revered Japanese title finally gets a European release as Suda51 updates his PlayStation 2 masterpiece; Trailer to be unveiled on August 1st 2008

Luton – July 30th 2008 – Rising Star Games will be keeping both Suda51 and mystery fans happy this autumn with the long-awaited release of Flower, Sun and Rain.

Written and directed by the infamous games creator, this Nintendo DS™ exclusive is the first chance western gamers have had to experience one of Suda51’s earliest creations and offers an insight into the evolution of his unique style following the huge successes of Killer7 and No More Heroes.

Flower, Sun and Rain is an intriguing mystery adventure very much in the vein of Groundhog Day. You play a detective charged with locating and defusing a bomb by solving thought-provoking puzzles with a wealth of bizarre outcomes. Solving the mystery of what is happening to him and his surroundings is necessary before he eventually goes insane.

– set in the late 1980s, “follows an experienced climber who sets out to scale a huge mountain in the Himalayas in order to find his recently-lost brother.”
– Gloomy atmosphere
– Deep Silver claims the game will have advanced graphics, impressive scenery
– View the game world from any level
– Pointer/Wiimote movements for exploration and combat
– Main character: “He is an experienced high altitude climber, well known in the international climbing community. He cares a lot for his younger brother, also a climber, and has deep concerns about his overambitious, high risk-taking nature.”
– Bardo is a shadow world – sense enemies with pointer
– Violent game? “What the player experiences is very scary and violent. Half of the people that climb these mountains die up there and are left behind. You will encounter dead bodies, frozen mummies, and fear inducing archaic Buddhist rituals. On the other hand the game is not about chopping up zombies or splashing blood all over the place. It’s violent in the sense of ever present danger and very aggressive environments and enemies. But you can’t be violent against ghosts and mountains. So Cursed Mountain is violent, yes, but in a very unorthodox way.”
– Realtime 3D – Wii capabilities being pushed in terms of lighting, shaders, geometry, audio, animation
– Sproing Interactive, Rabcat, Perspective Studios all taking part in development
– Scheduled for release next year

Even though the lack of space on the Wii to store downloadale games, content, and channels have been a persistent issue since the console’s launch, Nintendo may finally be considering an approach – although unconventional – to solve the problem. An excerpt from a filed patent hints that Nintendo may be considering a holographic storage solution, in conjunction with InPhase Technologies, for Wii. “In compliance with 37 C.F.R. .sctn.1.71(g) (1), disclosure is herein made that the claimed invention was made pursuant to a Joint Research Agreement as defined in 35 U.S.C. 103 (c) (3), that was in effect on or before the date the claimed invention was made, and as a result of activities undertaken within the scope of the Joint Research Agreement, by or on the behalf of Nintendo Co., Ltd. and InPhase Technologies, Inc.” It may be worth noting that the patent was filed a few months back, at a time at which one could argue Nintendo was not seriously considering a storage solution. Whether or not this is still a realistic possibility is up in the air, especially since an HDD would make more sense. However, any fix, even if untraditional, will be more than welcomed by the hardcore Nintendo crowd.
