This weeks additions to the Wii Shop Channel are bigger, stronger and faster. Its all about excess with these electrifying titles. A new WiiWare offering puts you behind the wheel of a high-octane racer with no regard for speed limits. A classic Virtual Console game transforms you into a larger-than-life beast with a massive appetite for mayhem. Whichever you choose, there will be no skimping on the action.

Nintendo adds new and classic games to the Wii Shop Channel at 9 a.m. Pacific time every Monday. Wii owners with a high-speed Internet connection can redeem Wii Points to download the games. Wii Points can be purchased in the Wii Shop Channel or at retail outlets. This weeks new games are:

Some of you may recall the game ReWind, an on-rails shooter thatTwo Tribes announced a few years ago for the Nintendo DS. Information has been laying on the company’s website for years, without a single update. Just recently, however, a new press release has been sent out which seems to reveal that ReWind is still alive and kickin’. The odd thing about the whole situation though is that the press release includes no new details about the game. Generally speaking, press releases are meant to discuss the features/gameplay elements of the title, yet Two Tribes has not done so with its latest press release.

The Mario franchise has arguably been the most influential series of games of all time. When creating a game, developers sometimes “study” the numerous titles that have been released, as the series has one of the most important qualities of video games – each of the games are fun. Mushroom Men will be releasing later this year in North America, although you may not have known that the mushrooms in Mushroom Men are indeed a nod to Mario. In an interview, Chad Barron explained, “Dan and Kris wanted to do a game set in an oversized world. So while they wanted to pay homage to Lorne Lanning and his Oddworld series, Dan brought up the idea of having mushrooms be the focal point as a homage to the Mario games.”
