Zelda: Wind Waker HD’s updated visuals aren’t the only presentation aspect that has been reworked. It seems that Nintendo has enhanced the game’s audio as well, making subtle changes to some of the game’s sound effects and in some cases, reworking entire pieces of music.

First, listen to the following sound effect comparisons – first is the original GameCube version, and then the HD version:

As you’ve noticed by this point, the opening chests jingle is renewed, along with the jungle for changing the wind direction. The Gohdan clip as well as the percussion in the Forsaken Fortress track also contain small differences.

Arguably the biggest change concerns the file select/fairy fountain theme. Over at the Japanese Wind Waker HD site, select “sound 3” and you’ll be able to hear the difference.

Update: More details from Ed Boon:

– Strengthens a number of characters that are considered “lower tier”
– LOBO and Bane are going to be strengthened
– No other characters confirmed for beefing up
– New character skins are on the way separate from the patch

Soulcalibur II HD Online was announced a couple of months ago for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Unfortunately, Wii U was left out of the mix.

When asked why the updated fighter won’t be available on Nintendo’s console, Namco Bandai explained:

“We have always been willing to try any platform if there is enough demand. Project Soul doesn’t have any attachment to a particular console; only the desire to achieve the greatest results possible for the platform chosen,” Project Soul told us.

Wouldn’t it have been nice to see Soulcalibur II on Wii U knowing that the original came out on GameCube? It does stink, doesn’t it? Who knows… perhaps Namco Bandai could have included Link in a potential Wii U version!

The Wonderful 101 isn’t really selling well in any territory. We already know that it got off to an incredibly rough start in Japan, but no data had been provided.

Now we do, and they paint an even worse picture for The Wonderful 101’s Japanese debut. 4Gamer reports that the title moved just a measly 5,000 copies in its first day. A week later, the game didn’t even make it into the top 20.

Not exactly the kind of news you like to hear!

Nintendo TVii was said to be on track for a release in Europe sometime this year. Only four months remain in 2013, and we haven’t heard a peep out of Nintendo of Europe. What’s the deal?

The good news is that Nintendo TVii is still planned for the territory. The bad news is that Nintendo still has no concrete news to share.

In a statement, the company said:

“We are working to bring a similar Nintendo TVii service to Europe however we have nothing to announce at the current time.”
