New Dance Video Game Launching Holiday 2009
Paris, FRANCE – August 18, 2009 – Today Ubisoft® announced it will launch Just Dance™ this holiday season, a new dance video game for the Nintendo® Wii™. Developed by Ubisoft Paris, Just Dance will challenge all those who like to groove, entertaining spectators along the way.

Requiring only one Wii™ Remote per player, up to four people can break it down at a time, as they follow on-screen choreographed moves set to classic dance tracks, covering a wide variety of musical genres and bringing everyone to the dance floor. Whether it’s a group of 15 year-old girls who just want to have fun, a high school reunion dance from the class of ‘92 needing to pump up the jam or Generation Xers who truly believe the groove is in the heart, Just Dance is the ultimate dance game for everyone.

A classic Nintendo game will be launching for the Wii Virtual Console this Friday in Europe. The company plans on releasing PilotWings, which originally came out for the SNES, for 800 points. There’s no word yet when the game will be available in North America, but it should be noted that the title was rated by the ESRB quite some time ago.

Back in March, a YouTube user posted a few videos of Wii games running in 720p. This was done using a Wii PC emulator called Dolphin. And most recently, photos of Super Mario Galaxy in 720p surfaced. Now, using the Dolphin emulator once again, screenshots of Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition have been taken.

“…New Super Mario Bros. Wii is a great example of a game that defies categorization. We think people who have been gaming for a long time will find much to enjoy about this title, but it’s also fun enough for all of our new Nintendo fans to pick up and play. Trust me, tossing your buddies into pits is hysterical, regardless of how long you’ve been gaming. And did you forget about Metroid Prime Trilogy? I think that’s one collector’s item that every longtime video game fan will want to play.

…I think we have enough titles coming [from third-parties] to satisfy even that crowd. Before the end of the year, we’ll see Dead Space Extraction from EA, Muramasa: The Demon Blade from Ignition Entertainment, Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles from Capcom, Silent Hill: Shattered Memories from Konami and Tatsunoko vs Capcom: Ultimate All-Stars from Capcom. And those are just a few of the great titles coming from our licensees. That should be more than enough to keep the core gamer crowd busy until Capcom releases Monster Hunter Tri in early 2010. Not to mention our great WiiWare lineup, with games like Cave Story from Nicalis and Super Meat Boy from Team Meat.

Personally, I feel that this holiday will be much better than last year’s. There’s a lot of titles to choose from in terms of third-party content and New Super Mario Bros. Wii is a title that many hardcore gamers will find interest in.

The Dark Samus and phazon story was pretty interesting, but I would like to see the next few Metroid games try something different for now. Still, it would be neat to see either of the two concepts return down the road.
